The sun was just beginning to sink on the horizon Jack and i have been siting on a fallen tree talking and laughing. Angus was grazing nearby.

"We should go back, my curfew is sunset," I stood, turning to face Jack, he reached behind himself and pulled out his staff.

"I should go too, North will be glad that we're both alive," He walked over next to me. I'd forgotten that just mere hours ago we were at each other's throats, now we were way closer.

I looked up at him, for a magnetic second we did nothing but look at each other. He smiled.

"See you tomorrow Mer," He went over to Angus, pulled out a snow globe from my saddle bag. He looked over his shoulder and smiled at me one last time. I waved my hand slightly. Jack opened the portal and stepped into the swirling whirlpool, the colours closed behind him.

I put my foot in a stirrup and pulled myself into the saddle.

"Let's go home, Angus," I soothed.

I snuck into the dining room the rest of my family already eating, i sat in my normal seat next to my brothers and mom.

"You're here awful late," Mom took a bite of her food.

"I know, i'm sorry," I helped myself to the meal.

"your curfew is before dark, your father and i began to worry," She continued.

"I'm sorry, really, but, Mor'du isn't a problem anymore," I said in a matter-of-fact voice

"you're right, i worry though Merida, and you still have your lessons." She cut into a slice of meat.

"Mother," i started after a minute, "I need to go out tomorrow too,"

"Tomorrow? That's three days in a row!" Mom raised her eyebrows in concern.

"I-uhmm," i had to think of a lie, "Angus has been really restless lately, he needs more exercise"

"That's three days worth of lessons, young lady; are you sure you'll be able to catch up?" Mom reached for her silver goblet.

"Yes i'm sure," i nodded taking a bite of my own dish.

"If your fath-" Dad interrupted mom "Of course, Merida, but don't stay out too late, aye?"

"Aye," i assured and with that we continued our dinner sharing stories.

 ~~~
I groaned turning over onto my back. Today was the day i would accompany Jack. There was few times i went to his time frame. It was so different, cars, airplanes, the things people wore. Young women my age wearing pants, i couldn't understand it. I was so curious about it though.
I chose a dark blue wool dress with yellow fringe on the waistline. I splashed water on my face chasing the sleep from my eyes. As dried my face with a nearby rag I knelt down beside my bed and felt around the dusty floor. My fingers found a little box, i pulled it out. The box had no lid and  four of north's snow globes slightly rolled around. Four. i could have sworn i had more. Shrugging off the thought i picked one up, as i stood i kicked the box back under my bed, the snow globes chiming an almost inaudible jingle.
I poked my head outside my door making sure the hall was clear, i closed my door and opened the portal. I grabbed my bow at the last second and stepped into the portal.
After i stepped out of the swirling rainbow of colours i looked around for Jack, I didn't see him right away so i looked around at my surroundings. I was in a park a playground was a few metres away, some children were chasing each other in their snow gear laughing wildly. Little grass sprouted from the snow and the sky was overcast with the same shade of white. I let out a slight sigh and watched my breath swirl away. I felt a snowball crash against my back.
"Hey red!"
Jack.
