Location- My house

I woke up the next morning with a painful headache and the need to throw up all over my bed. I jump up and ran to the bath room to let out a grueling amount of alcohol that I had drunk last night at the party.

"That was some party last night”. Derek surprised me

"What are you doing her" I whisper hoping my mom and dad wouldn't hear anything

"I took you home last night, remember?" Derek looked at me like I was crazy

"How did you even get in?" I questioned as I shoved him in my room so that my parents wouldn't hear us. Derek jingled the set of keys that I give him for his 13th birthday.

"You know I suck at remembering events and stuff" I laughed while trying to defined myself as I realized Derek was the perfect hang over cure.

“I told you like 12 times that I wanted the new CD player thing" he chuckled while taking of his shirt and reaching for a towel from my top drawer

"you almost cried when you saw your gift." I laughed even harder as I turned around so that Derek could take off his pants and wrap the towel around his waist.

"Yeah I remember how I had this lame plan to not talk to you for like a whole day. That is until your little gift came with a speech about how much you love me and this was the next step to our friendship and blah blah blah.”

He said as he headed for the shower. I followed

“it’s not my fault you bought it." We laughed lightly so my parents wouldn't catch on.

"Five minutes that's it". I said while I gurgled Listerine while Derek was in the shower. I went to my mom and dad's room to distract them for 5 more minutes

"Buenos días mamá y papá" I said cheerful and happy

"Is that the shower running" my dad grumbled and yawned. " Yeah I'm just waiting for the water to heat up" I answered.

I manage to keep up a conversation about how to fold a towel properly with my mom for about 7 more minutes. I walked back to my room to find Derek getting dressed with the clothes that were in the Derek drawer (Its Derek’s own personal drawer of clothes because he comes over so often). He slipped on his shirt and headed towards the window.

"where you going?" I asked.

“Don’t you remember what today is, Ang?" He said shocked "It last day of school breakfast day" Derek said disappointed that I forgot.

“Oh yeah I totally forgot." I said.

"you always do." He said annoyed as he jumped out the window on to the roof of my dad’s car.

Ding.

I heard the door then heard my mom get up to answer the door "Hi sweetie" my mom said sweetly.

"Hello Mrs. Cortés” I felt Derek’s smile.

“Umm. Hun why are you here?" I heard my mom say confused.

"Ms. Cortés don’t tell me you forgot last day breakfast" Derek said a little upset.

"No it's not that I just thought you and angel wer- I mean when she came home from graduation she said she was never talking to you again and that she ha-" my mom tried to explain before Derek interrupted with

"Ms. Cortés its nothing she was just mad. We have way too much history together to just throw it away over something as stupid as a kiss. But don't get your hopes to high we're just friends...for now." I felt his warm smile again.

"Well good luck. I've always liked you. She's happy when she's with you. You two alone can light up a dark empty room." My mom said.

"Make yourself at home while I whip you guys up something to eat.” I got ready for school and headed down stair where I found my mom and Derek laughing about who knows what.

They have always had an amazing relationship for some reason. It could do with the fact that my mom made me talk to the lonely kid throwing rocks at the other kids on the first day of preschool and we have been inseparable ever since. The flash back taunted my head.

Location- Flash back- First day of preschool playground.

"Whi are wou trowing wocks at those girls" I asked Derek shyly.

"Cause! girls have icky cooties" He said in disgust "oh..." I said nervously hoping he wouldn't reject me

"Wou’re a weally pretty boy" he said while looking at me a bit confused. I suddenly remembered I was wearing my older brother’s baggy clothes and backward hat.

"Actually I am a girl" I said with a little fear of him throwing rocks at me.

"Well why are wou wearing that!" he demanded with a little temptation to throw a rock at me.

"I love my bwrother he wears weally cool clothwes so I asked him if I could wear his clothwes and he said yes." I said dropping the fear and filling it in with happiness.

He ignored anything I had said and began throwing rocks at me

"hey!" I said as I jumped on top of him attempting to beat him up.

Before I knew it the teacher broke us up and put us in time out inside the class room alone while the other to “sort out our differences” while the other kids played on the playground.

"I'm sorry I throw a rock at you" Derek muttered.

I looked over at Derek and he had a small cut on his bottom lip

"Wou have a bo bo on you lip" I said innocently

“Do wou want me to kiss it to make it bwettur." "Do you think it will make it bretter?" he questioned.

"I don't know. But ever time my mom kiss my bo bo I feel bwettur." I answered. "Okay then." I leaned in and lightly kissed his soft lips.

Our heart stopped for those seconds like we just realized we've eaten from the forbidden tree.

"Bwettur?" I said sweetly "Yeah" he whispered "Wou know for a girl wour not so bad." He smiled. I smiled.
