My feet pounded against the kitchen floor as 'My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark' echoed throughout my headphones, muting the world as I continued spreading Nutella against the cold wheat bread.

As the guitar strums sounded, I attempted to replicate the motions, only to smear hazelnut chocolate across my forearm.

"So light 'em up, up up," I began to lick the Nutella off my skin, muttering the lyrics as my toes began to bounce off the tiles. "I'm on fire!"

I heard voices pierce against the music, but I had ignored it until my Beats were torn off my skull. At that moment, a rush of shock infiltrated my senses, but once I regained composure, my fingers latched onto the person's wrist; I began to tighten my grasp, causing him to whimper.

"You take off my headphones, I take out your intestines," I warned my brother as he stared in bewilderment, releasing the gadget into my hands.

"Good morning Lowery, how are you doing? Oh, I'm doing fine my gentle and kind sister, just fantastic," he exasperated, swivelling past to the fridge. "That's what a normal breakfast conversation should sound like."

"We're no where near to normal," I gestured to the windows; revealing a view of the park I had become so familiar to. "May I mention that we inhabit an island full of extinct reptilians?"

"No, you may not," Lowery snarled, his hands around a cup of steaming black coffee as he so carefully made his way to the counter stool.

I watched him with the corners of my vision, anticipating the moment he sat down in which I jumped at him from behind. "Bah!"

He flinched in his seat, twisting to face me with his mug no longer in hand. "You're lucky I put that down, or else I would've used the remainder to pour on your head."

"Damn, isn't someone cheerful today," I stuck my tongue out at him, stealing my Nutella toast off the plate as I marched away from my brother, munching against the small breakfast.

"Go to work, already!" He called out, and I groaned with the crumbs taking full space of my mouth.

"You have the same job as I do!" I retaliated, "I don't see you getting off your butt to go!"

"I'll give you twenty bucks if you go early and cover for me!" He proposed, and my head instantly popped from the frame.

"I'll take that now," I wriggled my fingers, motioning for the money. He grinned playfully at me, ruffling my hair as he handed me the strip of green. "Pleasure doing business with you."

I arranged Lowrey's collection of dinosaur figurines as they shifted slightly to the thundering crowd of workers piling into the room. Vivian sent a warm smile as I waved for her, and she handed me my usual morning lemonade.

"Thanks Viv, I really needed this," I nodded, taking a sip of the delicious treat.

"You do seem quite exhausted," she admitted, eyeing my dark circles and slouched posture.

"I'm glad you noticed," I scoffed, causing her to stifle a soft laugh and a shrug.

Slumping against my chair, I stretched out all limbs possible; the amazing feeling rushing through my veins as a yawn managed to escape my lips.

"Okay guys, it's work time!" I announced, pressing the activation pad before the screens flashed a bright blue. Attendance was high today, the evidence being obvious at the bustling crowds shifting through the cameras.

However, my eyes had instantly locked on the ship boarding along the dock, dozens more people rushing off to start their highly anticipated day. There stood Zara with her back to the surveillance; speaking with two boys who had seemed quite sceptical of her.

The young one brushed it off and began running in pure excitement, and my eyes brightened at the sight.

The older caused me to roll my eyes as his were latched against his phone, unaware as he bumped against other people. "You might want to look up boy, or you're going to miss one hell of a shock."

I'm pretty excited for this considering I haven't seen a version where the main works behind the action.
