⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Chapter 2. - The Meeting ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The bustle of rapidly approaching footsteps and the roar of boisterous, unfamiliar voices emanated throughout the winding hallway as a group of unidentifiable bodies drew ever closer toward the quaint, olive-green room.

I promptly shifted my graceless body into an upright sitting position as an uncertain sense of alertness had suddenly stricken me. The indescribable sensation felt foreign and peculiar, yet impossible to ignore. I ponder whether the sudden onset had occurred for the sole purpose of preparing me for the significant events which were merely moments from unfolding..

The nurse in the far corner of the room also appeared receptive to unexplainable vibe of impending grandeur; her carefree, composed demeanor precipitously shifting as her head abruptly jerked toward the direction of the dissonance. A neatly folded pillowcase slipped absently from her fingertips, floating carelessly to the ground.

An omnipotent rush of adrenaline pulsed though my veins as my anticipation accrued, I could feel my heart beating almost painfully as the strong vibrations palpitated through my chest.

I stared over at the nurse anxiously, hoping that her body language would divulge some sort of clues as to what to expect. However, she remained motionless; her eyes transfixed on the door, crumpled, discarded pillowcase still as her feet.

Silence fell upon the room as the forthcoming footsteps suddenly subsided. The adjacent bodies remained still now, quietly awaiting on the other side of the green door.

-

Without delay, four bodies entered the room- one by one...

The first was a girl, she looked fairly young; probably in her late teenage years. She was wearing what appeared to be your average school uniform; a white button up shirt, tie, tartan skirt and knee high socks. However, her hair was a luminous white and her eyes a vibrant eerie yellow. She strode with a slight sense of importance as she made her way across to the far northern side room- no doubt to allow breadth for the others to comfortably encompass the tight, narrow space. The girl had a slender, petite build; there was an effortless beauty about her, despite her unusual features. She shifted a few stray stands of hair away from her lambent eyes as she stared over toward me, a solemn yet unreadable expression etched upon her face.

The next to enter the room was a tall, much older woman; she was dressed all in black and had a sallow, wiry build. Her nose was pointed and beak-like, her dark grey hair was pulled back into an immaculate bun. She had pale eyes which peered antagonistically from behind small rounded spectacles as she lined up in an orderly fashion next to the young girl. Her presence emitted a stern, strict ambiance. I artlessly straightened my posture a little as I felt her acrid glance fall upon me.

A few moments passed where nothing seemed to happen. The girl and elder woman stood mutely, waiting. I twitched uncomfortably, not quite sure what do to.

Fortunately, the third occupant to enter the room soon broke the notable silence.

He was an elderly man, perhaps in his late 80's or 90's. Though, despite his age, there was a joyous, youthfulness about him. He floated blissfully through the doorway, a humble grin stretching across his pleasant, wrinkled face. He was dressed in a long sleek cloak which gracefully caressed the floor as he moved. A long snow-white beard sprouted from his chin and his hair was lengthy, setarious and slightly unkempt.

"Amalie" He greeted warmly, bending down to collect the pillowcase from the floor.

The nurse blushed, a little abashed.
