Chapter 01:
The past couple of months have been shit for Zayn.
For all of One Direction really. They’ve always been stuck in this little bubble gum pop phase that they’ve been forced into since they were on the X factor, and for the past year, they’ve tried to make something different of their sound, something more grown up. They wanted a mix of what they all liked, Harry indie, Zayn and his R&B, Louis and his rock music, and Niall & Liam with their hip hop type vibe.
It didn’t sink well with the media, and the fans.
They instantly got hate and bad reviews for their new music, and in all honesty it was terrible, and created a horrible rep for One Direction not just as a band, but as individuals.
Their careers are in an obvious slump at the moment, and they have absolutely no idea what to do, so their just waiting out for something different, some new music to try and please the fans with.
Though to Zayn, the only logical option is to break up, and become solo artists, but he’d never mention it. He didn’t know what the rest of the boys would feel about the suggestion, but he knows that’s what he wants to do, that’s what he’s always wanted to do. Besides, all the publicity he’s gotten for himself has only came from being in One Direction. None of it came from being just Zayn Malik. How would he even get started? Where would his platform start? Who would he even go to, to help get his solo career started? Exactly. Of course he loved all 4 of them, with all his heart, but the band was going downhill, nearly already at rock bottom, and he didn’t feel there was much saving that could be done for them.
Zayn pulled himself out of his thoughts as he heard this obnoxious beat radiating from the stereos in the studio booth. Management and some usual people that help them write songs are on another one of their projects for a new sound. He shook his head at the dumb beat that seemed to boom even louder now that it’s annoying rhythm caught his attention.
At the end of the backing track they had playing, he sighed contently, but a lot of eyes were on him and the rest of the group. The creators of it were watching them intently for any sign of approval, but they definitely got none from him.
“So..What do you guys think?” A chubby guy with a beard and thick glasses asked, and his hands crossed over each other as he looked to each one of them.
“It’s…um… energizing..” Harry said breaking the awkward silence. Harry didn’t like this just as much as Zayn didn’t. He’s even had thoughts of the band just breaking up because it is useless to stay together, but he doesn’t want them to break up. These are his best friends, and breaking up would tear them apart too, so he tries to stay positive with everything management puts out to them. No matter how horrible or stupid it may be. It’s something and he just has to work with it.
“Yeah...it’s pretty upbeat, I could see it getting played at a club or something...” Niall piped in with Liam nodding his head in agreement.
Zayn just rolled his eyes and shook his head, looking up to the flat screen hanging up in the corner. He’d tuned out everything that was being said and focused on the T.V, his opinion didn’t matter anyways.
Ellen’s show was blaring quietly through the T.V’s speakers, and he chuckled lightly at the jokes she cracked here and there. It was the segment of the show where Ellen would interview celebrities and she was announcing who was on her show today.
“So today, there’s a really special guest. She’s been making music since she was ten, all 5 of her albums have shot all the way to number one on charts in 26 different countries, and she’s known as R&B’s little girl. Please welcome, Leigh-Anne Carter.” Ellen announced, the crowd cheering and screaming, and clapping.
