Chapter 3
It was time to face reality: I couldn't say anything to help myself.
My mom said she had to go in for work on Saturday. I was so relieved because I could go to my friend Farrah's house today.
I got into my mothers car and felt relieved. He couldn't hurt me today. We drove off and I sighed in relief. My mother looked at me and smiled. I returned the look. I love her, even though she married the wrong guy. If only she and my real dad could have worked it out.
She gave me a kiss goodbye and waved when I reached the door. Farrah was one of the nicest friends I had, I told her everything, well not quite everything. Her house was bog and always smelled like freshly baked cookies. We were up in here room playing a board game, when her mom came in and told us that my step-father was here to pick me up early. I gulped and was very scared. How could this be? My mom dropped me off.
I dropped my head as I walked down the stairs as slow as possible. I asked him why he picked me up early. He told me I had chores at home. I didn't have chores when I got home.
I got into his car and he told me that we were going to some bonding. I knew exactly what that meant. I started to cry. This went on for the longest time, why me?
