ALINA'S POV

Sneaking out of my window to the back garden really isn't as hard as you think it would be. Everyone in this house has been on high alert for so long that they have all tired themselves out by the time night falls. And besides, no one in their right mind is stupid enough to even attempt harming a hair on any of my family members' heads. We are not the most powerful mafia for nothing, and considering our allies, it's a death wish to even think of messing with us.

I placed extra pillows under my covers, as that's what I saw in movies and it seemed to work. My family also respects my privacy, so I'm hopeful it will work.

I dropped down from the windowsill of my room onto the windowsill of the kitchen window, my arms burning at the sensation. My gut drops as my body drops, the thrill of the adrenaline rushing through me. My fingers scrape the side of the house as I reach the ground from the windowsill of our kitchen.

I push myself against the wall, making sure to make myself as small as possible, as I am aware of the extra security personnel that surrounds the house nowadays. I pick up my skateboard that I conveniently left out this morning in the garden for this precise moment. This has taken a week of planning.

I can tell you right now that it is very hard to find information on where underground fights happen. I managed to get a ticket intended for the public; therefore, I will be in the viewing area for normal people and not in the area filled with underground mafia personnel. This feels like the safest way to find information and not be caught.

The public tickets are available for a fairly hefty price, which is why I feel like it's a safe option. clearly its a money making business

I'm able to escape the house by going through the back garden. Some of the guards did in fact raise concerns with my father about how it is fairly easy to gain access to the house from the back garden, but I managed to dismiss them despite helping Elias escape through the exact same way.

My father was willing to do anything I said, which is the sweetest thing ever. I'm still trying to get used to this behaviour. And although I hate the fact that I used that to my advantage, I refuse to put the extra strain on my father of having to protect me.

That almost got him killed last time.

Never again.

I move slowly, using the same technique I did with Elias, army crawling to the best of my abilities whilst keeping my skateboard on me. My whole body aches from the movements, yet I do not stop.

Now, I'm not idiotic enough to leave the house without any sort of backup. I am wearing my new tracker bracelet, and I have my phone and money , all the resources needed if I need help.

I'm wearing all black to blend in, not that anyone will associate me with my family. None of that information is public, so I feel very confident in the fact that I will be able to move in and out undetected.

I can't expect to rise to the top if I have no idea how things in this world work. And that's what I plan to do.

Luckily, the venue isn't far away. It pays to live close enough to the city for business but secluded enough that we get so much land around us.

I sigh in relief as I climb the fairly small fence just in time to see the shadow of a guard turning the corner, coming into the back garden.

I have to suppress a little giggle when I'm reminded of Elias and his shockingly bad aim the last time he was in this garden.

The smile on my face remains as I get on my skateboard to start making my way to the venue.
