"Jack, look at her... isn't she beautiful?" Janice asked holding as pink blanket in her arms. The sleeping baby inside cuddled in her mother's arms. "Absolutely lovely, she has your eyes" Jack replied. His eyes deep in both fituge and awe. The night had been torture, John was taking test Janice could hardly breathe, not to mention the fear. John's last experiment on Lisa left her with her head in a ditch an arm in the tree, and her body everywhere else.
Jack kissed Janice on the head, "maybe you should get some sleep, I'll take her" he said. Gently pushing his arm under the blanket held by his wife. He lifted the baby softly into his arms. As he watched the baby sleeping, he thought of her future. Just as he had really begun to think, the little girl opened her eyes. She looked at him for a few seconds, then she started to cry. Jack looked at her, sighed, and held her up to his shoulder. "Shhh... come on Sammy, please go to sleep. Shhh." he whispered. Bouncing her softly.
She cried a little harder. John walked in, "she is going to wake everyone on the top floor, SHUT her up" he said. Jack looked at his twenty five year old son. His mind filled with anger, Jack had wanted another daughter, after what happened to Lisa, but he didn't think John would try to do anything.
"John, don't you have homework?" Jack asked, clutching Samantha in his arms, hoping that John wouldn't hurt her anymore. John rolled his eyes. "I've tried everything dad, what will it take for you to forgive me?" John asked. "I want Sam back and the other four you are planning to do this to as well, no one deserves this." Jack said knowing it was too late for John to change everything.
"Look on the bright side dad, she will have someone like her, someone she may fall in love with" John tried, though being as smart as he was and knowing his father would never forgive him. "Can I hold her?" John tried. "Are you crazy? You've done enough, go do something" Jack said. Sam finally stopped crying.
Jack sat down next to Janice who was asleep in the hospital bed hooked up to the thousands of meters and computers. He imagined how much it hurts. Sam squirmed in his arms, she grabbed his brown trench coat' s collar with her tiny hand. He smiled. Thinking again of her future... then again realizing, she won't have a future.
Under the stars, he noticed that the bright green eyes of his daughter, were pointing directly to the stars. He never liked stars, but he knew that one little lover of stars, deserved a proper nickname, Virgo. The perfect name. Though Sam was not a Virgo, she was a fighter. She wasn't too be born for another two months.
And no matter how much he loved her, or hated what she was becoming. Samantha Jericho, will always be his little Virgo.
