                    After Russia's invasion of the United States of America in 2029 failed to bring about the quick and decisive victory Russia so desperately needed; the front lines have stagnated. Everything west of the Rockies and most everything east of the Mississippi river has been turned into a scene reminiscent of Adam Booths A Step too far. The landscape has turned to ruble and death after everything short of nuclear weapons had been used in an attempt to deny the Russians a foothold on either side of the US. As for the citizens and soldiers in the Patriotic Zones, the areas not affected by direct warfare, life was fairly normal. But this is the story of the Coon Soldiers. A Militia of young soldiers based around Madison, MS. The coon soldiers are a rag tag band of young boys devoted to protecting a city that has stubbornly held out against the Russian onslaught for 2 years and yet remains at the pinnacle of the front line. My name is Houston. I am a Coon Soldier and this is our story. Unlike most books being published in the patriotic zones, this is not one of happiness; this is one of hardship, perseverance, strength, and above all loss.
