Chapter Two

|The Meeting|

Evelyn's POV

I turn my head around to see Scarlett quickly catching up to me. I smile and continue to run through the bright green trees. Ever since we were little, Scarlett and I always loved to race. I being the vampire, am naturally faster then a werewolf. Since Scarlett is going to be Alpha soon I want to see if shes faster then me yet.

I look to my right to see she's a foot behind me. I smile at her while showing my fangs. Scarlett barks happily as she starts moving her legs faster and faster to try to beat me. I take this as a challenge, I start to speed up too.

She barks at me which makes me let out a laugh. We're about two hundred yards from the border that ends our land. Scarlett and I slow down to breathe. Actually, Scarlett breathes I just stand there. I put my hands on my hips then smirk at her.

"Ha! I won yet again!" I say excitedly. Scarlett barks at me angrily making me laugh. She then walks away to get behind a tree. I hear her shift back, and on her clothes. Since our pack loves to run as there wolves alot in the woods, there's always extra clothes hidden in the trees. After Scarlett gets her clothes on she walks up to me.

"I promise, that next time, you will eat my dust." She says.

"Oh, I hope I do cause then I won't have to keep drinking animal blood all the time."

We laugh then look around for a fallen log to sit on. We find one then sit down. I take my phone out of my pocket to see what time it is.

"Oh God, it's seven! We're going to be late for the monthly meeting!" I exclaim.

"Shit! Come on!" Scarlett yells. She doesn't even take off the clothes, she just shifts. We start running as fast as we can towards the pack house. When we get into the wide open yard, we see nobody around. Damn it.

"Stay out here, I'll go inside and get you some clothes." I tell Scarlett. She nods her big black wolf head and I quickly walk inside the pack house through the back door. Nobody is here, thankfully. I walk upstairs to Scarlett's bedroom. I open her bedroom door and I see a man looking out her window. I can already tell who it is just by looking at him from behind.

"What are you doing here Dylan?" I ask. Dylan turns around, his eyebrows indicate that he's pissed off. Only, his light brown hair and light eyes still make him irresistible. Dylan is a vampire, like me. He's one of the best trainers, and my only other friend besides Scarlett.

Scarlett's mom and dad met him on one of there hunts and he saved there lives in an encounter they had with other vampires. Since Dylan was so good as fighting, Scarlett's dad invited him with open arms in the pack as a trainer. He's the only other vampire here besides me, so that makes him more attractive to me. He's only a hundred years older then me, but that's not that big of a difference when you're a vampire and you live forever.

"Scarlett's mom sent me looking for you two, I thought you two might be in here but turns out you guys were just arriving here from being in the woods." Dylan walked closer to me as he was talking. That made him taller so I have to look up at him, which he knows that makes him more intimidating to me.

"We're sorry, we were just running in the woods and lost track of time."

"It's fine, now get Scarlett some clothes and meet us all in the basement."

"Yes, sir."

Dylan smiles and walks past me brushing his hand against mine as he heads out of the room. I smile to myself then get Scarlett a pair of skinny jeans, undergarments, bra, and a solid black v-neck shirt. I run out of her room and back outside. Scarlett takes the clothes with her mouth then goes behind a tree to shift and change. She then walks up to me looking pissed.

"What took you so long!" She says.

"I ran into Dylan, sorry." I say as I look down at the ground. Since my best friend, more like sister, is going to be Alpha soon I have to learn to respect her more. Scarlett laughs and I bring my head back up to look at her.

"It's fine, but you better tell him that you like him soon, now let's go!" Scarlett exclaims. I laugh and we both hurry into the house. We take a sudden right then open a wooden door that leads to the basement. We quickly walk down the stairs.

Once we get down, the floor turns to carpet, and the walls are a dark brown. There's one bright light that's hanging from the middle of the ceiling. There's a big round dark oak table with nice wooden chairs to compliment it.

Scarlett's mom, Mary, is on the bigger of the chairs. The other people sitting down are the 'government', as the other pack members call them. Trainers, Chefs, Head Guard, Second Guard, Beta, and then there is only two chairs left; one by Dylan, one by Mary.

Scarlett and I both quickly take our seats as we get disapproving glares from everyone else. I sit next to Dylan because I want to be a trainer too. For now, I'm his assistant. I think it's a good idea because I want to teach the other wolves on how to fight the best so they can protect themselves in combat. You also probably guessed my other reason; Dylan.

"Are you going to explain your tardiness, Scarlett?" Mary says in a stern and angry voice. Scarlett looks down and bites her lip. She then looks at me for help. Damn it.

"My lady, it's my mistake, I wanted to go for a run with Scarlett and she said we shouldn't but I pushed her into doing it anyways, I'm very sorry." I say.

Dylan looks at me surprisingly. He knows I'm lying, but everyone else believes it since they're all giving me dirty looks. Sometimes, it sucks being the only other vampire in the pack.

"Well then, Evelyn, this is you and Scarlett's first time being late, make it your last." Mary says. I nod my head and Scarlett mouths the words 'Thank You' to me.

Mary is always hard on Scarlett because she is going to be Alpha soon. She feels like she needs more of a punishment because when she is Alpha and if she makes a mistake, it might not be forgiven.

"Anyways, on with the meeting." Mary announces.

The rest of the werewolves talk about what the new meals are going to be, new shifts for guards, stuff like that. I think I've been sitting down listening to these people talk for like two hours. I start to secretly play on my phone under the table. I'm playing flappy bird when I get a text from Scarlett. I open up my messages.

Scarlett: I think the chef likes me...look at him XD

I look over at the chef and see that he's looking at Scarlett's boobs. I laugh and Scarlett smiles.

"Evelyn, what do you think is so funny about having steak and rice for lunch?" Mary asks me. I bite my lip. Everyone is once again giving me a dirty look. I'm going to have to safe myself.

"Oh nothing, I just think that rice isn't very healthy, I think instead we should have a vegetable on the side, it would lower the risks of constipation." I say with a smile. The chef gives me a dirty look and nods his head.

"Yes, Evelyn, that would be a better idea, thank you." The chef says with annoyance. Scarlett winks at me and I smile proudly to myself. Everyone then starts to talk about the same stuff again. Ten more minutes go by, and Mary says for everyone to go to bed since it's late. Everyone besides Scarlett and I start to get up and leave. Dylan looks at me then smiles. He gets up and puts a hand on my shoulder.

"Get up early tomorrow, okay? I need to show you a few more moves before training starts." I nod and he takes his hand of my shoulder and leaves. I feel my phone vibrate and I look at my messages again.

Scarlett: What kind of moves? <3

Evelyn: Probably hard ones...XD

Scarlett and I laugh as we both head to our rooms to go to sleep.
