Tears pricked her eyes, threatening to stream down on her rosy cheeks. Slamming the door shut, Peter's cries of protest were audible even with the door closed. She stormed out of his house as fast as she could, running her way to her car as she did. The car made a vroooooom 'type of sound as the engine roared to life. The tires of the vehicle screeched as she drove away. Away from him.
As she came to a halt due to the stoplight turning red, this time, she didn't hesitate to let the tears flow down her face. Finding out that your boyfriend cheated on you would be putting it mildly. Could you imagine catching them in the act? Having sex right in front of your eyes and find out it has been going on for months? She gave him all. Sex. She repeated it to herself. The one thing she hadn't given him.
How could he? She thought to herself.
"For how long?" she asked blankly and as Peter's eyes became wider and she knew right then, it had been going on for some time.
"Candace, I-" he started but she cut him off, shocking him.
"For how long?!" she exclaimed, panting. She knew it must've been for some time but Candace was persistent to let Peter admit it himself.
"A couple of months..." he mumbled, barely heard but she heard it loud and clear. Candace's teeth clenched, trying to keep her demons in check.
"How many?" she asked.
"A couple." he admitted but she wasn't satisfied with this. She had to know. Even though she knew she'd still get hurt either way. Probably even more. But it had to come from him.
"How many?!" she screamed again making the blonde girl beside him shudder and clutch onto the sheets tighter, covering her naked body. Candace glared at her.
"Nine months, for God's sake Candace." he said, ruffling through his just-fucked-hair.
She scoffed and turned her foot. She just couldn't bare look at him. The pain was unbearable.
"Candace! No! Wait!" she heard him plead as she shut the door behind her and went off.
She was out of those dreadful memories when a loud honk bursted from behind her. And then another one, and another one, and another one. She looked up at the stoplight, noticing it had already turned green and she was too emotional to even notice it. She rubbed her nose with the back of her hand in the most unlady-like way and stomped on the accelerator.
As she reached their house, she walked lazily over to the front porch. She stopped right infront of the door. She took in a big deep breath and put on the fakest smile she could smother. Wiping both of her cheeks, she opens the door.
"Hey sis!" John, her elder brother greeted her and she smiled at him and waved a little. He frowned, noticing a smudged black stain on the side of her cheek, comprehending it was her eye make up and coming to the conclusion that she had been crying.
"Hey, Candy, are you okay?" her family always called her Candy. The water started to come back upon her eyes. They weren't because of sorrow anymore. It was sincerity and compassion. She'd always have her family. This time, she smiled a real smile.
"Yeah." she replied and hugged him, taking him by suprise.
"I wanna go to Manhattan with you." she stated which made John break free from their embrace with scrunched eyebrows.
"You do?" he asked, wiping the stain on her face with his thumb and she nodded. I had to get away, she thought.
"Are you sure? This sure is sudden, Candy. I mean, I'm leaving tomorrow..." he said, frowning again.
"Guess I'll better start packing then." she grinned from ear to ear. Her eyes gleamed. Not from tears of sorrow. But it wasn't compassion either. It was vengeance.
