'That's it for today, well done Mavis. I'll see you tomorrow!'
A young looking girl with silky, platinum blonde hair walked out of the Victorian style building and began walking up the street.
The girl's name is Mavis Vermillion and she is a second year college student at Crocus College. She's quite a shy girl who is really focused on her further education--she dreams to be the next person to represent for Magnolia town council; Fairy Tail.
She is also highly interested in singing so she does lessons every day since her college is a bit different to the other small ones. Rather than having a full day with time at the beginning and end of the day to do what they want and a short lunch, they get a 4 hour break at roughly midday. During that break Mavis will walk into the town and go have her singing lesson and then she'll make her way to the coffee shop called Latté World.
She passed lots of shops that had windows stacked with things on sale since it was November sales in the town of Crocus.
It didn't take her long to get to Latté World as it was only 3 streets from where she did her lessons. Once inside the warm building she took a deep breath smelling the comforting scent of coffee filling the air. She always got rather excited when she came in because she loved to unwind a bit with a lovely hot cup of coffee and watch the people, wrapped up in their winter jackets, walk past the window of the shop.
She made her way up to the counter and saw the familiar face that always served her at this time of day.
'One cappuccino, please.' Mavis reserves her order. She's followed by an affirmative grunt from the boy at the counter.
As Mavis stood waiting for the coffee to come she took in everything about the boy.
He had scruffy black hair with a small patch sticking up at the top, black circles were evident under his eyes a clear indication that he didn't sleep or rather, never sleeps. He wore a slanted from on his face and looked bored out of his mind. Around his neck he wore a black collar with spikes almost like a dogs collar in all honesty. Under the beige apron, that he had no choice but to wear, Mavis could see a black sweatshirt with a bit of the pentagram in white just visible. It became clear to her that he was most likely a goth. She couldn't quite see all of his trousers but from what she could just make out he had black skinny jeans on and a thick silver chain hooked from his pocket to one of the side belt holes. She tried to make out his name but failed in doing so.
Finally her coffee was brought to her and she thanked the scruffy boy and made her way to a single seat and table by the tall window. While drinking her hot coffee she suddenly heard loud screaming music coming from up at the counter, the boy that served her cursed out loud and pulled out his phone only to shove it back in a few seconds later.
She'd nearly finished her drink when they brought out some more cake onto the cake counter next to where Mavis had received her coffee, she peered over the top of her coffee cup to see what cakes they had and to her surprise they had a fruit cake; her favourite.
Finishing her coffee she disposed of the cup and saucer on the rack of everyone's used plates, cups and saucers. She made her way to the cake counter and grabbed a plate from the top of the stack and fished out a small slice of the fruit cake.
After squeezing back through all of the hungry people she walked a couple paces back to the counter to pay, again she was met with the sight of the non-amused, scruffy boy. As she went to hand her money over the boy threw his hand against hers, yanking the money from her and then slamming the change harshly back in her palm. She let out a quiet yelp and then quickly returned to her seat with the change and cake. Even after being up in front of him again she forgot to look at his name but it didn't matter to her anymore.
While eating the cake she debated in her thoughts of whether she wanted to attempt to know this boy and find out more; Mavis may be a shy girl but she is very much intrigued by people, her shyness takes its form when she is forced to speak to someone a lot older than her or to a large group of people. One boy that seemed her age didn't affect her much. Her conclusion ended in a rather unanimous, no. The boy was a bit much for her quiet attitude and her reserved ways. He was, what she came to, the opposite of her in many ways.
Once finished with her delicious cake she put the plate neatly onto the rack just like her cup and saucer. She glanced one more time at the boy who was having another tear at something or other, whatever it was Mavis didn't really care.
Mavis got back to the college premises with half an hour to spare so she sat in the library and did some of her singing theory revision.
After a thoroughly good day of learning in and out of college she laid her head to rest in the little room she had in the halls of residence.
