"Tavros," a voice called, piercing through the thin walls of his dreams. A chase ensued, a man with a blade that cast a reflection on the water beneath him grew closer. The sky was dark, stars being seen faintly in the distance. The air was cold. His legs refused to move fast enough, and every quick glance he shot behind him caused him to run even slower. A rock was deviously placed in front of him, and he tripped, falling to the ground.

"Tavros!"

The man with the blade walked and sat on his chest, pinning him to the ground. His legs went numb, pins and needles radiating through his muscles. The man lifted his arms, clutching the blade in both hands. He screamed for him to stop, but the knife came crashing down into his chest, spraying blood over the man's face, adorning it as if he was a warrior. He could taste his own blood in his mouth, and feel every movement of the knife. As his vision became darker, the world around him faded to black.

With a start, he awoke, tears caressing his cheeks like a river. His chest hurt, as if the dream was real. But he felt his chest, and no blood was found. Only a scar. He could still taste blood. It nauseated him, and caused his head to spin.

"Tavros," The voice was still there. He looked over, seeing his matesprit, Karkat, sitting on his bed, concern in his eyes.

"You were screaming in your sleep again..." He looked down. His legs still could not move, as usual. Nothing below his waist had any feeling, not after the accident. And the scar on his chest stung sometimes. Sometimes it was a slight twinge. But in this moment, it was on fire. Flames radiated through his shoulders.

He began shaking, crying again. Karkat held his hand, sympathetically rubbing his shoulder. It hurt him to see his other half in such a state of emotional pain.

---------past----------
Nothing had been the same. Not since the accident.

It was a fun and energetic night. Tavros, Karkat, and their friends went out to a party, getting the slightest bit tipsy and laughing their troubles away. It was at a club, the lights and colours glowed in their eyes. They were so happy to be having so much fun. Life was stressful, and everybody was thankful for the break. Karkat had been whispering in Tavros' ear, singing a cheesy love song.

"You are my sunshine...My only sunshine..." Their friends ogled over how cheesy Karkat was.

Tavros and Karkat left the party early to head back home. They had been exchanging kisses throughout the night, earning sighs of friendly envy from their friends. Everybody wanted a relationship like Tavros and Karkat had. Thankfully, all their friends accepted them, unlike their families. But their friends were their family.

Tavros was giggling, unable to restrain himself from laughing. Karkat was holding him, making sure he didn't stumble too far away. Karkat could hold his liquour, but Tavros was a lightweight.

"Karrrrkat, lookit mee!" Tavros laughed, dancing in circles on the street. No cars were in sight, so Karkat was not very worried. But he stayed close, just in case.

"Tavros, don-hahha. Don't go too far!" The light from the moon illuminated the asphalt road.

"I'm fiiiiine, matesprit, bro, hey...Hoooonkk!" Tavros pinched his nose, imitating Gamzee. Karkat laughed at his outburst. Gamzee had been at the club, and of course, he was surrounded by other female trolls. But he left early, after he threw up. Karkat had heard that Gamzee was trying to stay sober.

"HEY. What the fuck are you doing, nooklickers?" A voice was heard in the distance, echoing against the buildings surrounding Tavros and Karkat. Tavros stopped dancing, walking beside Karkat.
