The Beginning of Nightwing

Blüdhaven NJ

Year 12

Smaller than Gotham, more corrupt, more crime, Blüdhaven, New Jersey. On the highest building Dick Grayson looks down over his city, observing the traffic below.

"Hm. Nothing much tonight." He saids to himself. He looks at his phone; It reads a reminder: "End of patrol."

"Well, guess it's time to hit the hay, after heading to the store." Said Dick to himself. Heading back to his apartment early, 2:00 am, he undresses and switches into his pajamas.

If Dick was still with Batman, He would be still out on patrol till sunrise. Dick shuts his eyes and heads to sleep as he needs rest. Tomorrow is work.

Blüdhaven Police Dept.
9:05 am

Dick walks in to the Police Station, in his uniform. Grayson was new to this whole cop business. He was able to get the job of a police officer quicker than anyone else due to a favor The Mayor owed Superman. Long story short, Superman helped Dick get his job as a Police Officer without the rigorous training required.

He walks past some BPD cops. Middle Aged men who Dick has discovered beat their wives.

"Hey Grayson, Catch." Said one, as he tosses Dick's handgun. Dick grabs it, so it doesn't discharge. Dick drops it, as he doesn't use guns at all.

"Are you crazy Micheals?!" Screamed Dick.

"You're the guy who is crazy, not using the guns, but joining the police force!"

Dick heads to his desk to fill out paper work. Dick told Superman he wanted to join the police force to help him with his War on Crime. He is now regretting it.

"Hey Mary Marie!" Said Micheals. Dick looks up and sees Micheals trying to lay his hands on the mail lady.

"Come here baby." Mary Marie tries to pull away but is grabbed rougher by Micheals. The Police Sergent just turns a blind eye, as well as other cops. Dick stands up and throws a pen at Micheals.

"Hey Micheals, come on man let the girl go!" Said Dick.

"What are you going to do?" Micheals grabs his gun and points it at Dick.

"I could pop one in your head right now and no one can ever hear about it." Said Micheals. Dick slowly walks out the door and to the police cars. Mary Marie manages to walk out and heads to Dick.

"Thanks Officer Grayson."
"Thanks for what?"
"What you did was very brave."

Dick nods and smiles. He heads into the police car and turns on the engine.

"So your are the adopted son of Bruce Wayne eh?" Asked Mary Marie.

"Yeah." Said Dick, in a low voice.
"Must be nice having that type of cash, why you get away from him?"

"Needed some air." Said Dick, turning the key and smiling at Mary Marie before heading out into the City.

Gotham City
12 Hours Later

Inside the deep dark lair of the Batcave, Batman suits up as a 17 year old Jason Todd sits in the living room area of the Cave. Angry.

"Come on Bruce it was an accident last night!" Screamed Jason.

"You shattered his Collar Bone!" Screamed Bruce. "You're staying here tonight!"

Bruce gets into the Batmobile and drives off to Gotham City.

"For 14 Months I've been Robin, you think he trust me more." He mumbles to himself. Jason peers to his costume case and decides to head out. He grabs the suit and removes the tracking device and communication comms. He takes the Batcycle and heads off to Gotham City South.
