Harry's POV
As soon as Harry awoke from the deep slumber he had previously been in, he immediately began to sit up. He swung his feet over the ledge of his bed and pushed himself up. Looking around, he realized he was the only one awake seeming as it was probably still early in the morning. He always had a trouble sleeping, yet his lack of sleep normally occurred most frequently at Hogwarts. It wasn't as if waking up early or not being able to fall asleep as quickly and peacefully as the other boys he shared the dormitory with was as awful as it sounded. It sometimes gave him a chance to recollect his thoughts and just spend some time contemplating about really anything. Although, sometimes that wasn't always the best to be left alone with your own thoughts and feelings, but everyone has to feel and think.
Once he fully stood up, he found his glasses and put them on while walking towards the window which had no sign of rain pounding against it. The sky was a dark shade of grey, though, making the world seem that much gloomier. Harry tore his eyes away from the window and decided to get dressed for the day. Once stripping and tugging on a pair of black pants, white button-up, and his Gryffindor robes and tie. Just as he finished putting on his socks, Ron began to stir in his bed, soon sitting up in his bed and yawning.
"Mornin'." Ron said groggily, rubbing his eyes.
"Morning." Harry replied as he slipped on his shoes. Ron looked out the window, seeing the dark sky, and groaned as he got out of his bed.
"Seems like the storm blew itself out, huh?" He asked as he began getting dressed in attire almost identical to Harry. Harry merely nodded in response as he stood up again and grabbed his wand. He began walking towards the spiral staircase leading down to the common room.
"Oi, mate, wait for me." Ron said, quickly putting on the rest of his clothes and slipping on his shoes. He stood and grabbed his wand as he flattened down his matted hair with his hands. He followed Harry downstairs to meet with Hermione who was waiting for them by the fireplace, face submerged in a large novel. Once she heard their footsteps descend down the stairs, she turned her head and put down her book.
"Good morning." She said as she stood up from her spot on the sofa. The two boys greeted her as they walked through the portrait hole and began walking towards the Great Hall together. It was silent as they walked together, but they didn't mind.
"Do you know what I think is mad?" Hermione asked, suddenly breaking the silence, "This Tri-Wizard Tournament. I mean, you'd have to be absolutely mental to enter, right? It's incredulous." Harry and Ron decided to stay silent, not quite agreeing.
"You know, that carriage ride to the castle with Malfoy and his gang was pretty odd. I wonder why he was so quick to say yes when 'Mione asked." Ron attempted to change the subject.
Harry snickered, "Maybe he fancies her." Hermione rolled her eyes.
"You're still on about that, Ronald?"
"Well, yeah. It just doesn't make sense why he'd let us ride with him. Malfoy has been awful to everyone for years, and suddenly this."
Hermione sighed, "He might've just been being friendly, Ronald. Maybe this year he'll change and actually be at least a decent person."
Ron scoffed, "Even if he tried, he couldn't do it. It's in his blood. He was brought up that way, taught to be awful."
Finally, they reached the Great Hall which had few people scattered throughout the four tables for the separate houses. They sat together at the Gryffindor table near a few other Gryffindors they didn't know. Each of them began to examine their new course schedules.
"Herbology with the Hufflepuffs and Care of Magical Creatures with, damn, the Slytherins." Ron said.
"Double Divination this afternoon," Harry groaned. Ron and Hermione began to discuss their schedules more while Harry began to zone out. His eyes wandered over to the Slytherin table, where he found Draco sitting alone reading something. His head turned and the two locked eyes for a moment before Draco looked away from Harry who tried to read his expression, yet seemed to not be able to figure him out. Draco had been acting weird since traveling to Hogwarts. Not as if Harry could really suspect anything out of him considering it was only the first day of classes. It's not as if they were friends, either, so he definitely didn't have to worry. But, he couldn't help but to worry.
Harry finally tore his eyes away from Draco once Hermione began talking to him.
"Harry, are you alright? What are you staring at?" Hermione turned her head to try and see what he was so affixed on.
Harry shook himself out of his daze, "Hm? Nothing." He began to pile food onto his plate as more people joined them in the Great Hall. Ron was already scarfing down food that he shuffled onto his plate. Hermione continued to eye Harry, but started eating as well. . His eyes couldn't help but wonder off towards the pale, blonde boy at the other side of the Hall. Though this time he was conversed in a conversation with one of his friends. The boy had much darker skin than Draco and seemed to be joking with him about something. Although, Draco didn't seem to find anything of what the other boy said amusing.
Harry looked away once again as his friends were looking at him as if he were mental.
"Mate, what are you staring at?" Ron asked him wildly.
Harry looked back and forth between his two friends, "Nothing. I said that before, didn't I?" He went back to eating, half hoping they would just drop, yet knowing slightly that they wouldn't.
"Harry, you were looking at the Slytherins' table, weren't you?" Hermione joined in on interrogating him. It honestly shouldn't have been a big deal at all, but it was most likely they were just concerned about him and Harry knew that.
"I was just thinking and I just spaced out a bit." Harry answered, staring back up at Hermione.
"You were practically gawking at Malfoy just now, Harry." Hermione countered back. Ron almost spit out his pumpkin juice at that. Harry narrowed his eyes at his friend, silently telling him to 'piss off.'
"I wasn't gawking, just thinking, alright?" Hermione nodded, unconvinced but dropped it, nonetheless.
The days passed fairly quickly and soon enough, multiple days passed with ease. As today was the day for the three champions to be chosen from the Goblet of Fire, the school was full of excitement and students rushing around. Ever since the two other schools came to Hogwarts for the Tri-Wizard Tournament, the school had a buzz of noise everywhere you went. The excitement seemed to die down a little as everyone gathered into the Great Hall for the feast, yet it seemed to only just begin.
