The wind picked up pace as I did, sweeping the swooning leaves from the ground and swirling around my vision as I ran.
If you listened closely you could here the gentle rustle as the breeze drifted through the trees, swaying at their trunks to it's tune.
It smelled wonderful; like minty wood, fresh and crisp, cooling my nose as I ran bare foot through the night.
Slowing to a crouch, I grabbed a fist-full of Earth bringing it to my mouth. Flicking my tongue lightly over the top of the pile of dirt in my palms, I registered the bitter chemical-like taste of ... grafitti remover??
"SHIT! What the fuck!?" I leaped from my chair knocking over the desk in the same motion, and bringing the chain of drool that had piled on it with me.
"MISS ACCALIA WHAT IS THE MEANING OF THIS!?" My head snapped to the front of the room to where my English teacher's murdeous eyes glared at me.
I stayed frozen on the spot, mouth opening and closing like a goldfish while my brain struggled to regain consciousness. I was never one to fall asleep in class, infact I was usually the only student paying attention to Mr Johnson's monotonous lectures that we received each time this period rolled around "I...You see I was...I mean um...I...I was..-"
"-Seeing as though you are unable to form any sentences other than profanities and mumbles, how about I let you think about it for the rest of the hour and you can come back for detention to explain to me what on earth is going on with you today." Mr Johnson cut me off bringing my senses back from the Neverlands.
I hadn't been given a detention all year so far, and I sincerely meant to keep it that way. My father would be so disappointed if he found out that I'd been in trouble with only a few weeks before I finished up here at Alice High. He expected me to begin training for the roll of Beta as soon as I graduated, which meant he didn't doubt my loyalty to this pack. I was never going to consider having that kind of life, but no matter how small and insignificant a detention might be, I couldn't risk anything increasing the pain and stress my father might feel when he finds out that I wont be sticking around for the long haul.
"Sir, I really dont think thats necessary.."
"Don't argue with me young lady-"
*knock* *knock*
All heads turned towards the door that slowly opened to reveal the only boy who would dare interrupt such an intense moment.
Carter.
"Hey Johnson." He said, sauntering into the classroom and throwing his bag to the floor as he sank into his seat diagonal to mine.
"Mr.West do not get smart with me! You may only be a week away from Alpha initiation, but in this room, I am and always will be in charge. You are 40 minutes late to my class and I've already given out one detention today," he said making sure to give me a pointed look before returning his gaze to Carter. "Dont make me turn it into two..
Miss Accalia, I will see you at lunch for your unnecessary language. And please, refrain yourself from sleeping during my classes in future, I am only trying to teach you knowledge that will surely come to help you in whatever path you choose in life."
