~Vince~
My cellphone rang as I sat at the table reading this contract for Prank Invasions and my girlfriend Natasha is in the next room getting ready for bed. Picking up my phone I saw the called ID. Skarlet, my ex. My first love. The one I never really got over. I picked up the phone, as I slid a picture of us from under the papers. Knowing it's over hurt, but its been over. I never really moved on, I think I knew that before but I never wanted to admit it. Letting her go even though I didn't to was the right thing to do, we would have just drifted apart more.
I answered the phone. Curious as to why she was calling so late. "Hello?" I answered my voice as quiet as I could let it get so she could still here me. "I need help, I need you to come get me, please." Skar (nickname) sounded scared. Terrified and even then she never gets terrified. "Where are you? I'm coming to get you." I said grabbing my jacket and car keys not bothering to tell Natasha where I was going or when I would even be back. "Where are you?" I asked as I started the car. "I don't know Vince." she said her voice cracking as she spoke. I felt my heart drop a little. "Get to where you see a street sign." I said speeding but watching out for cops because it's late. "I'm by Cherry St." I whispered. "Vince hurry please. I'm scared." She sniffled. I went to respond but I heard a beep telling me that the call ended. Shit, I thought speeding quicker. I started to mumble the street name to myself so I didn't forget it.
Finding it about a half hour later I climbed out of my car looking at the area I'm in. And empty trailer lot with woods surrounding the area. Of course it would be an area like this, this is Skarlets' favorite type of place. I went from trailer to trailer until got to about halfway through. I found her curled up in a ball inside by far one of the creepiest trailers I've seen here. "Skar." I said softly getting her attention. When she heard me she flinched. As she looked up I saw blood coming from her lip and she had a black eye. I sat down next to her and pulled her in to arms. Holding her as she trembled from holding back her sobs. "Who did this to you?" I asked as I felt rage flood through me. I was angry, take that back. I was furious. "D-Devin." She cried. "Little Devin?" I asked in shock that he would do something like this. "He was drunk" She cried. "He promised me that he was done drinking, he was doing so well. I don't know what happened." I leaned my head back on the wall and let out a sigh. "Come on. Let's get you to my house." I said as I stood up with her in my arms. She shook her head no and hopped down wincing in pain. "No, just take me home. I'll find Devin tomorrow." I watched as fear and pain filled her eyes as she said that. "No you are coming home with me tonight, or until you are better. I will deal with Devin as soon as you aren't limping around with a busted lip and a black eye. Natasha is just going to have to get over it." I said picking her back up and carrying her to my car. I set her down when we got to my car letting her climb in on her own, as I got in on the drivers side.
Driving off the car was quiet. I looked over at her, to see her already looking at me. "Thank you Vince." She said quietly grabbing my free hand with her cold one. "Don't thank me, you know I would do anything for you." I said to her giving her hand a light squeeze. "I'll never forget the way I found you in the trailer." I said feeling my eyes water as I pulled into the driveway of my house. Turning the car off I sat back in the seat and looked at her. "You need to forget Vince, I'm not going to say pretend it never happened because it did happen, I just don't want you to remember seeing me like that." She said wiping the tears that streamed down my face. "I can't forget something like that and no matter what I will never forgive Devin for that. Now come on we have to get you inside." I climbed out of my car and walked over to her side helping her out and into the house. Natasha came out of the room and looked at Skarlet confused. "Who is she?" Natasha asked with confusion laced in her voice. "Natasha this is Skarlet. My-"..."Best friend and family friend" Skarlet said cutting me off. "Vince I think we need to talk when you are done helping...her" I glanced at Natasha, nodding my head as I saw the ice in her eyes. She was NOT happy. She never really is though. "Come on lets get you settled and cleaned up." I mumbled looking down at Skar. She nodded her head and I brought her to the bathroom cleaning up the blood. There's something shes not telling me. "Take a shower, I'll bring you some clothes." I said walking out and to my bedroom.
"Who is she really Vince? Because I know you." Natasha grumbled with jealousy filling her voice. I ignored her and found one of Skars favorite t-shirts and shorts. "We HAVE to talk about this Vince. Who is she?" Natasha said getting irritated. "She told you who she was. I've told you about her before, my best friend that I grew up with Skarlet Moon, family friend since forever because our parents grew up together. Maybe if you cared about someone other then yourself you would have heard that. Now if you will excuse me I have to bring her clothes to wear and she will be staying here until she is comfortable going home without a black eye. Because I did buy this house so it is in fact under my name so you have no say just in case you wanted to argue me." I said before walking out of the room and to the bathroom knocking on the door hearing the shower water run telling me that skarlet was in the shower. I opened the door leaving the clothes on top of her towel and walking out.
