~ Katniss Pov ~
We pull up at the park across the road from the beach. Its so beautiful here, with the sea breeze and the sound of laughter coming for the children on the play equipment. So many happy families walking there dogs, having picnics, just simply enjoy the sunny day.
Peeta gets out of the car and rushes to my side of the car opening the door for me.
"Why thank you, you're such a gentleman" I say while getting out and giving him a quick peck on the lips.
He pulls me closer by the waist and whispers in my ear.
"Well, i am known for my charming personality" He says giving me a wink.
"Oh really" I whisper back smirking at him.
He is right but, he does have a charming personality, he's so kind and caring to everyone and he's so selfless. I don't know how i got so lucky to be his girlfriend, he could of had any pick of girls he wanted but he chose me.
Annie and Finnick get out of the car and wave us over and lead us to a shady spot under a large oak tree.
"This is my favourite spot to have a picnic, it always has such a friendly nature to it, you know, you just feel so comfortable here, me and Finnick come here all the time just to get away from everything" She stops and engulfs the sea breeze and lays on a blanket and we both sit down and get comfortable.
"Were going to get some hot chips and some food to snack on, do you want any drinks or anything?" Finnick says pointing between us both.
"No thanks I'm right, Katniss do you want anything?" Annie nudges me.
"Yeah, can you get me a coke please?" I say to Peeta giving him a five dollar bill.
"It's alright i will pay for it" He hands me back my money.
"No Peeta just take it please, for me" I give him puppy dog eyes.
I know he falls for them all the time. We always do this, fight over who gets to pay for the stuff we buy. He never lets me pay for my own things.
He gives in and accepts the money. He slowly turns around without saying anything and walking away with Finnick to the fish 'n' chips shop just down the road.
I look back at Annie, she's watching these two little kids chasing each other around the park. A little girl chasing her older brother. The little has two braids in her hair that bounce up and down behind her as she runs. She's laughing so hard, her face is red. It's so cute to watch. Annie looks so mesmerised just watching the playing happily with each other, having a good time. Annie looks down in her lap, then up at me.
"Do you ever want kids someday Katniss?" She says deep in thought.
"Well... I haven't really thought about it much" I just shrug.
This question really has me thinking now. Do i want kids someday in the future? I know Peeta loves children, he really gets along with. They really adore Peeta, kids love him so much. He would make a great father some day. He always talks about his nieces and nephews, about how cute they are and how fun they are to have around. Its true, they are really good kids to look after and so adorable.
"I've talked to Finnick about having a child maybe, sometime when we're finished school and have a job and actually have our own house" She says looking back down in her lap and smiling to her.
"So he's alright about that, you know, starting a family together?" I say smiling at her.
I would be so happy for them. They really love each other, I know Finnick is going to propose to her one day. He told us all about it one night when Annie couldn't make it to a sleepover once. He plans to take her on a romantic date on the beach with a nice dinner then ask the big question.
"He's a good boy Finnick, yes he can be the biggest idiot at sometimes, but he's like the brother i've never had, we've been friends for as long as i can remember and he has always had my back and he loves you so much, he's so protective of you Annie, he would do anything for you to be happy" I smile at her
"He really does deserve you and you really deserve him, your meant for each other"
She just looks at me and smiles, nodding her head.
"I'm so lucky to have him" She says quietly but still so i can hear.
"You really are Ann and he is really lucky to have you" I can't help smile and hug her.
She the best friend anyone could have. She's always supportive and always there for help. She's so kind and gentle, she couldn't even hurt a fly.
"Does Peeta want kids?" She says scouting closer to me, really wanting to know the answer.
"Umm I'm not sure, he loves kids but, he always talks about his nieces and nephews"
"They really look up to him, don't they"
"Yeah, it's cute seeing him muck around with them and teaching them stuff"
It really is. It's beautiful the bond between Peeta and his nieces and nephew. He loves every single one of them to bits.
I look down the street at all people down town today. So many cars driving past and people walking. The beach is packed today with heaps of people sun baking and suffers and kids playing in the sand.
Down the street a bit I see two boys walking towards us, one with bronze hair and one with blonde. I quickly recognise who they are. My boyfriend and my brother with our lunch. Laughing between themselves, not caring who looks at them. Annie sees them too and just smiles as well as me.
"Kat, look over there sitting outside that shop" She says pointing at a group of girls sitting at a table checking out our boys.
"Can't blame them, our boys are pretty hot, but no one looks at them like that but us"
"I agree"
We both look at each other then yell out to them. When we get our attention, we both blow kisses to them. They both pretend to catch them. Finnick puts his on his heart and Peeta puts his in his pocket, saving it for later.
We just giggle at them. The group of girls just glare at us and go back to what they were doing before.
The boys reach us and sit down next to us. Finnick gives Annie a quick kiss then sets the food out. Peeta turns my head so I'm facing him and gibes me and kiss. My arms go around his neck and his arms go around my waist. I feel his hand move down my back to then hems of my shorts. Then I feel him slide something into my back pocket. I pull back from our kiss and check what he put in my pocket. It's the five dollars.
"Peeta! Really, what is this" I say waving it in front of his face.
"A five dollar note"
"Yeah, that is yours, take it" I say shove into his pocket. He quickly grabs it and tries to hand it back to me.
"Have it, honestly Kat I am allowed to spend money on you"
"No Peeta I'm not taking it, it's yours" I say crossing my arms. He just holds it front of me.
"Well if none of you want it, I will have it" Finnick say, snatching it out of Peeta's hands quickly.
"Where's my coke at?" I say searching through the backs.
"Here" Annie says, handing me my drink.
"Thanks" I say opening it and having a sip. It's so refreshing, especially on a hot day like this.
"Do you wanna sip Peeta?" I say offering him a sip. He takes the offer and has a quick sip then hands it back.
We all start to dig into the chips. After we just laze around and chat with me laying in Peeta's lap and Annie laying in Finnick's lap. It's so relaxing, just thinking about life and watching people at the park.
No one says anything. I sit up and look at Annie and Finnick. There both fallen alseep, how cute, then I turn my body and laying on my stomach in between Peeta's legs. He's leaning up against the tree asleep quietly snoring. He's so cute when he sleeps, his blonde curls are tangled and dangle over his forehead. I move them behind his ear.
"I love you Peeta Mellark" I whisper quietly.
I move my hand down to his arm then rest it there. I place my head down on his chest, listening to his heart beat, rising and falling with his chest.
My eyes start getting heavier and heavier and before I know it, I slip into a world of darkness.
