The wheels screeched against the asphalt, smoke rising into the night like a scene from a film. The smell filled Minho's lungs to the brim, his heart threatening to tear out of his chest.

"Turn back," he said, huffing.

The car fell silent. Bangchan glanced at the older man through the rearview mirror.

"I said... turn BACK." Minho's voice grew louder.

"Don't."

One word—enough to silence the storm in Minho's mind. He didn't dare disobey his older brother.

"You're stupid. An idiot. A disgrace."

Minho stayed quiet, his fists tightening in his lap. Arguing would only anger his brother further. It was the first time he had seen him this furious.

"I don't care who that boy is. You are not to talk to their kind again."

"Their kind?"

Minho looked at his brother, who still had his head buried in his book.

"Don't act like we're so pure," he said quietly. "We're criminals after all. What does a little blood cost you?"

"You are arguing for that boy?" His voice dropped, deeper now, strained with anger. "What is he?"

"A friend," Minho said, his voice barely above a whisper.

"Stop the car."

Bangchan halted the car immediately. His eyes flicked to the mirror, trying to read the tension behind him, but all he found was silence.

"I'll walk. Take him home."

"I can come back and drive you, sir," Bangchan offered.

"No need."

Before leaving, he added coldly, "Keep him in the house for a while. If he leaves, I'll have all of your heads on a platter."

The door slammed.

The car fell silent once again—but this time the silence was heavier. Chan had a million things he wanted to say, but the words refused to come out. Minho sat with his eyes closed.

Why did he even care?

Was it guilt?

Or...

a feeling he didn't dare acknowledge

Chan finally spoke, "You shouldn't have brought him there tonight."

Minho let out a quiet laugh. It wasn't humor, "You think I don't know that?"

His fingers brushed the dried blood on his sleeve—Jisung's blood.

"But if I left him alone..."His voice dropped to a whisper. "He would've died a long time ago."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Once again on his bed, jisung looked up the ceiling hanging high. It was one of the things that ground him in reality no matter what happend to him he room would alwys be waitng for him like a old lover. He didnt cry, he had no strength.

He could feel his sister outside the door, collecting courage to come in and talk but that was the last thing he needed, a conversation. He felt sleepy but his mind kept replaying the same moment over and over again.

The cane.

The blood.

Minho's voice.

Nobody touches what's mine.

Jisung clenched the sheets beneath his fingers. "You're insane..." he whispered to the empty room but his heart didn't sound convinced.

The phone rung, the same old ringtone he had downloaded with his friends. A surge. Jisung leapt towards the phone all the pain disappearing, his eyes held hope for something dangerous.

"I.N calling...."

Jisung had never felt so disappointed to see his friend call him. He picked up.

"Hoe tf u at?" Changbin yelled from behind.

"Shut up will u?" jeongin covered changbin's mouth "dude u alright?" he was laughing but there was a hint of concern in his voice

"Y-yeah im ok" jisung tried his best to sound normal, he didnt know how to face his friends anymore. How would he explain that the cute guy at school almost got him killed and almost died himself.

"I had a really bad flue" jisung lied

"Damn... well get well soon because its near" you could hear joengin almost burst out of excitement

"what is near?"

"Bitch the Prom" He uttered loudly

"Dont you dare forget it, we just have a week left bro u have to dress up for you know who" Changbin said after yanking the phone out of jeongin's hand

Jisung knew who but that was the last person he wanted to see. He laughed it off somehow.

"Alright we'll pick you up day after tomorrow byeeeee" The phone hung up before jisung could respond.

It felt strange but good. This was his life, he is just eighteen; life has just begin. The word normal felt like a stab he was never going to be normal but Jisung was going to try. Try to be a teen for the last time, he was gonna shine like he was meant to. This prom was going to be amazing

------------

2 days later....

------------

Han's mansion was pumping with life once again; Changbin and Jeongin were in the best spirits.

"THIS IS GOING TO BE THE BEST PROM EVERRRRRR" they exclaimed in unison.

"Dude, I'm so excited" Joengin exclaimed.

"Yeah, same but what's the theme?" Jisung asked

"masquerade" All three exchanged glances. "So everyone's fucking strangers...?" Changbin joked.

"Lord, you are no help" they laughed.

"Dude, do you think I should...like ask out a girl?" Jisung said quietly.

Changbin spit his drink out all over Jeongin's face. "You fucking..." Jeongin withheld himself and held Jisung's hand.

"Honey, if gay was an apple pie, you would be the apple."

Jisung blushed. "Oh, c'mon, it's not like that" he didn't even sound convinced

"Nah, man, you're built like an A-grade twink" Changbin added.

"Fuck you."

"Well, it doesn't matter who you ask. What you, I mean we all, need are clothes. A lot of CLOTHES"

"Well, you know what time it is" Jisung said.

"It's SHOPPING TIME!!"
