"Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding" (Proverbs 3:13). From the bosom of Solomon, the wisest of all men, came these words. Solomon had seen it all. He knew what benefit wisdom and understanding could give—a fulfilled life; a happy life.

Wisdom and understanding bring good life, long life and riches and honour. The Bible says, "Length of days is in her right hand; and in her left hand riches and honour" (Proverbs 3:16). Every young man needs to understand this. It is your responsibility to find wisdom and get understanding. Why? Because you're God's representative on earth; created in His own image, after His likeness. What this means is that you have in you, the Spirit of a God who has both wisdom and understanding as a character (Spirit): "And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding..." (Isaiah 11:2). And "the LORD by wisdom hath founded the earth; by understanding hath he established the heavens" (Proverbs 3:19).

Solomon discovered this truth and so, asked for nothing but wisdom and understanding when the Lord visited him.

Wisdom and understanding make you operate at a different dimension―a higher dimension. Solomon was operating at this level, so he could see and call others "simple ones". He says, "And beheld among the simple ones, I discerned among the youths, a young man void of understanding" (Proverbs 7:7).

Life void of wisdom and understanding is naive. Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not. Proverbs 14:18 says, "The simple inherit folly: but the prudent are crowned with knowledge." You would realize that it is more costly to stay simple. By the time you are through with this book you would discover how to find wisdom and get understanding.

"Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding" (Proverbs 4:7), "that they may keep thee from the strange woman, from the stranger which flattereth with her words" (Proverbs 7:5).

"Delilah, Excuse Me! is fast becoming a cliché," the Lord whispered to me one day. This was one of the many slogans we adopted for our campus ministry (Assemblies of God Campus Ministry) in College, as coined by Ms. Emelia Silim-Babs, one of the first leaders of the local chapter of the ministry. Emelia had graduated when I became the leader and president of the chapter, and as the ministry grew, immoral sin on the College compound grew stronger and faster than anyone could predict. This became so alarming that a national newspaper put up a story on my college with a heading I never did like: "Sex Orgy in..." I withhold the name of my College.

To protect the image of the ministry, the body of Christ, especially, the Holy Spirit led me to teach, and to organize teachings on topics such as holiness, purity, righteousness, grace and pardon for sin.

All this while, I could still hear the voice of God telling me, "Delilah, Excuse Me! is fast becoming a cliché." Now the Lord needed me to reach out to many youth all over the world with His message that was, and is hidden in our slogan: Delilah, Excuse Me! This book is therefore the message that the Lord hid in our slogan for us all.

Delilah, Excuse Me! is a book that brings wisdom and understanding to young men to keep them away from immoral women and immorality. Many young men lust after "anything-in-a-skirt." They are easily lured into gratifying their lust. Many others go into courtship without wisdom and understanding, and are led astray.

I have seen many "youth-friendly" books try to guide the youth in choosing and courting a mate. But those ideas or principles always have their shortcomings because they are only human ideas and principles. They always end up disappointing and hurting someone.

The only and surest way to know the right one to choose is to know the wrong one not to choose. You can only find a virtuous woman if you can identify and avoid a strange woman. If you agree with me, then, this book is the right material for you.

Although this book is directed toward young men, young women can as well benefit from it. The young woman would find equally useful, the message in this book, in her quest to becoming a virtuous woman, and to protect herself from the "Jonadab" and "Amnon" of our time (See 2 Samuel 13).

"And it came to pass after this, that Absalom the son of David had a fair sister, whose name was Tamar; and Amnon the son of David loved her.

And Amnon was so vexed, that he fell sick for his sister Tamar; for she was a virgin; and Amnon thought it hard for him to do anything to her.

But Amnon had a friend, whose name was Jonadab, the son of Shimeah David's brother: and Jonadab was a very subtil man.

And he said unto him, Why art thou, being the king's son, lean from day to day? wilt thou not tell me? And Amnon said unto him, I love Tamar, my brother Absalom's sister.

And Jonadab said unto him, Lay thee down on thy bed, and make thyself sick: and when thy father cometh to see thee, say unto him, I pray thee, let my sister Tamar come, and give me meat, and dress the meat in my sight, that I may see it, and eat it at her hand.

So Amnon lay down, and made himself sick: and when the king was come to see him, Amnon said unto the king, I pray thee, let Tamar my sister come, and make me a couple of cakes in my sight, that I may eat at her hand.

Then David sent home to Tamar, saying, Go now to thy brother Amnon's house, and dress him meat.

So Tamar went to her brother Amnon's house; and he was laid down. And she took flour, and kneaded it, and made cakes in his sight, and did bake the cakes.

And she took a pan, and poured them out before him; but he refused to eat. And Amnon said, Have out all men from me. And they went out every man from him.

And Amnon said unto Tamar, Bring the meat into the chamber, that I may eat of thine hand. And Tamar took the cakes which she had made, and brought them into the chamber to Amnon her brother.

And when she had brought them unto him to eat, he took hold of her, and said unto her, Come lie with me, my sister.

And she answered him, Nay, my brother, do not force me; for no such thing ought to be done in Israel: do not thou this folly.

And I, whither shall I cause my shame to go? and as for thee, thou shalt be as one of the fools in Israel. Now therefore, I pray thee, speak unto the king; for he will not withhold me from thee.

Howbeit he would not hearken unto her voice: but, being stronger than she, forced her, and lay with her.

Then Amnon hated her exceedingly; so that the hatred wherewith he hated her was greater than the love wherewith he had loved her. And Amnon said unto her, Arise, be gone.

And she said unto him, There is no cause: this evil in sending me away is greater than the other that thou didst unto me. But he would not hearken unto her.

Then he called his servant that ministered unto him, and said, Put now this woman out from me, and bolt the door after her.

And she had a garment of divers colours upon her: for with such robes were the king's daughters that were virgins apparelled. Then his servant brought her out, and bolted the door after her.

And Tamar put ashes on her head, and rent her garment of divers colours that was on her, and laid her hand on her head, and went on crying."

2 Samuel 13:1-19

You will find Biblical principles to help you overcome the strategies of temptation by strange women around you.

Samson was seduced by a Philistine woman named Delilah (a woman of Sorek employed to discover the secret of Samson's strength in Judges 16:4-20). Her influence caused Samson to betray his special calling from God.

Samson, the mighty warrior, soon became a slave to his enemies.

Who is the Delilah in your life? This book is a warning: Beware of Seducers!

I pray that after reading this book, you will receive wisdom and understanding to stand up to her; look her in the face and say to her, Delilah, Excuse Me!
