Pain; a physical suffering or distress, as due to injury, illness, etc. If that was pain, then what they were feeling was an excruciating torment throughout every fibre of their bodies. There was a burning sensation in their muscles, they were cramping all over. Every bone throbbed, and it felt as if their skin was melting off. A cold, hot sweat would render them senseless any minute now. Every single one of them went to a doctor for help, but they received nothing but a, "It's just a fever, you'll feel better soon." But they didn't. The pain progressively got worse over the long passing weeks.

Some tried painkillers, nothing worked. Their life was slowly seeping out of their fragile bodies. Every new breath became even more shallow than the last. Every single, microscopic movement was to much to bear. They were all in panic. They were dying. They were alone. They were frightened for the eternity that threatened to come there way.

Suddenly, a bubbling screech erupted in their throats. In every part of the world, there was a scream. They gritted their teeth, clenched their hands, shut their eyes tightly. And then the world went dark.

The earth shattered as the sky bolted out lightning. Giant ripples of waves crashed a shore. Rocks levitated from the ground. Time slowed down. Particles were being destroyed, only to recreate themselves as something else. Skeletons ripped out of the ground. The sick were healed. A force field protected a forest filled with terrified animals. Sound waves carried an agonizing pitch. Everything was burning. One mouse shivered in fear as she realized she wasn't herself anymore. Location to location, every second, it changed. People felt the need to close their eyes and forget about what has happened. An illusion was created.

The evolution had begun.
