You and Ashton had been fighting for longer than ever. When you two usually fight it would be over in a day maximum. You two had been unhappy for the past two weeks. It first started with just petty relationship problems. He didn't say this, she didn't do this. But as the days passed you two just brought up all the unspoken issues and problems you two had.
It had been a few hours, you guessed. Ash was yelling at you and you sorta just gave up. Your mind was going crazy but you just stood still and took all Ash's verbal blows.
"And you have the fucking nerve to nag at me?! I'M BUSY Y/N! DON'T YOU GET IT?!" Ash shouted.
You just sighed. He noticed you had stopped trying. "Ash-"
"Y/N you're not listening to me! I've tried and tried so hard and I-"
You were fuming. "That's all everything is to you. It's ALL ABOUT YOU. ASHTON NOT EVERYTHING IS ABOUT YOU, THINGS-"
"I don't want to do this anymore." He said.
"Neither, fighting just isn't us and-"
He shook his head and looked straight at you. "That's not what I meant."
You stared back and knew immediately what he meant. "No. Ash you don't mean that do you?" You whispered. You knew you were about to cry.
"I do. This... this isn't right anymore. I don't... I don't think I love you. Anymore." His eyes were glassy as well but you let your tears slide.
You opened your mouth but nothing came out. You loved him. Yeah you fought, but you loved him. You knew you'd try your best to push the relationship to work. And obviously Ashton didn't think the same.
"I'm gonna leave for tonight. And I think tomorrow I'm going to get my stuff. Y/N I-" He shook his head and sighed. He stared at me a second longer before leaving.
You slept on the couch that night. You had no energy to move from where Ashton left you. Two days later you answered the door to be greeted by Calum.
"Hey Y/N, umm.... Ash couldn't... I mean... yeah I just need to get his um stuff." Cal said.
You just nodded and let him through, doing whatever he needs to do. You were beyond pissed. Ashton didn't even have the guts to come back himself and collect his shit.
When Calum left that afternoon he wished you luck and the best. You tried your best not to breakdown when he left. You tried.
It had been like that for a month after the breakup. Everything reminded you of Ashton. You were still in love with him. But you saw how he was around the world again, doing his thing. You even fell into the trap of watching a recent interview. He looked happy as ever.
And you were the unhappiest you had ever been.
It took a few more weeks until you felt just the slightest bit better. Your friends noticed you had changed and begged you to get over him. You guys talked more and tried their best to distract you. You appreciated it and also tried your best to go along with their 'relationship therapy'. It probably was about two months from when Ash had broken up with you, your friends had deemed it 'time to move on'.
While you were moving on, it had been almost a year since Ash left you and he hated everything. At first it was great, he felt free and could do whatever. But a few months passed and some little things just reminded him of you. He tried getting with other girls but he couldn't do it. It was just you in the back of his mind.
"Look Ash, I don't think it will work. There's just something stopping you. I know you said we'll take it slow but I don't think you want to be committed." Ashton was left alone again.
The girls he had been going out all noticed how he wasn't entirely ready to move on. And when times like that happened he would just go and lock himself in his room for a night and just stare at this one photo. You were kissing his cheek, your arms around his neck and his around your waist. The back of the photo had your scribbled fast writing but he could still read it anyway.
'Happy Anniversary babe, I love you always'
So one night he was feeling extra nostalgic, partly drunk as well. He asked Calum what is was like going back to your place and getting his stuff. He never asked before because he never felt the need. So Cal told him how cut you were and how you looked destroyed.
The other boys had noticed how Ash was just out of it lately. They tried talking to him, about you.
"Ashton, you need to move on." Luke sighed and watched Ash just pace around the room.
"You left her, remember?" Mikey added.
Ash just glared at him. "You don't think I know that?!"
Calum pushed Ashton to sit down. "I know you're mad. I mean, you've told us everything about that night so we get it. But maybe Y/N just isn't-"
"No." Ash said, hushed. "You told me yourself that she still might love me."
Calum hated to see Ash broken like this but he needed to be honest. "Yeah I said maybe, and mate, it's been months. Things can change."
There was silence in the room for a moment before Ash spoke. "I think I can get her back."
They were all hesitant at first, thinking he was fucking crazy. But they needed to see Ash move on, and helping him would be giving him a reality check. And the boys also hoped as much as Ash that you would take him back.
Ash had the plan all set. He had rang around and found out that you still in your house. So he got the boys, a guitar each, and did the cheesiest but romantic way he could think of. He knew you loved stuff like this. He put everything that reminded him of you and put all your jokes and all your stories into some performance. The boys hoped it would work.
So when that day Ash knocked on your door, you were half awake and wondered who would be knocking this late. But you had been out the night before so you were just tried. It was only 5PM. The moment the door opened you were greeted with Luke, Cal, and Mikey with guitars. Ash smiled up at you and he held onto the flowers in his hand tightly.
You didn't know what to do when the song started but you didn't stop to stare away from Ash. You felt the tears brimming in your eyes. They were loud, you were sure down the street heard them. The three boys just smiled at you and Ash took your hands in his. The strumming ended and so did Ashton's singing.
"Y/N, I know I don't deserve this but I'm still in love with you. And I just wanted to tell you that I'm an asshole who was a coward and just wasn't ready but I think I am now. I love you, Y/N." Ash said and handed you the flowers.
By now a few tears had fallen from your eyes and you clutched the flowers. You were completely shocked. Ash was waiting expectantly at you and the three boys behind you gave you the thumbs up.
"Ash I-" You started and he just watched you with the smile.
"Hey babe! Who's at the door?" You heard behind you. You watched Ash's facial expression and noticed he didn't hear the voice behind you. When someone behind you wrapped an arm around your waist, you smiled sadly at the boys in front of you. "Oh, are these your friends?" He asked, with a sleepy tone because you two had been upstairs beforehand.
"Um yeah. Ashton, this is (B/N), my fiancé." You said slowly.
Cal shook his head, Luke looked down at his feet awkwardly and Mikey' jaw dropped. But you weren't really paying attention to them. You just stared at Ash who looked so destroyed and broken. You felt physical pain at his expression.
"Well then, hi guys! I'm (B/N) as you heard, what's your name?" (B/N) pulled his hand out to shake Ashton's.
"I'm...too late." Ashton said and turned his back, pushing the boys roughly away from him.
He was cursing to himself and he whipped furiously at the tears that were falling. "I fucking lost her."
