***Tyrone's POV***
"You were great back there, by the way." I say to Khai. "When we did the demonstration. I was really proud of you." I let him know.
Khai smiles.
"Thanks. I just did what she told me. Though I have to admit it felt pretty great." Khai pauses, thoughtful. "But that's only a small part of self defense. Did you hear when Nora was talking about how important awareness of your surroundings is? I... don't have much of that... I get so lost in my own head sometimes. I'd probably be in the back of some kidnapper's van before I even realize I'm being kidnapped." Khai over exaggerates. Still, I know he's probably not far off. "Or limousine... you never know. That one looks kinda ominous." Khai adds.
I'm about to ask what he's talking about when I suddenly see it for myself.
"If what you mean by ominous is that you never really see limousines around here, then yeah."
Khai and I watch as the shiny black vehicle passes us, but once it does, we continue on our way, not thinking much more of it.
When we get to Khai's house, he excitedly tells Hazel about how his day went, especially during martial arts and self defense.
"You must've really worked up an appetite, then. Do you boys want a snack?" Hazel asks.
"Is that even a question? I'm always down for snacks." Khai reminds her, then takes a seat by the island counter.
"I'm also usually hungry, unless I just ate." I put in, sitting down next to Khai.
"It's probably cause there's no food in your house." Khai replies sadly.
"What? Tyrone, you should've said something! You know I'd be more than happy to bring some food over." Hazel says, seeming a little alarmed.
"It's alright, that Kalene lady my mom has befriended is going to bring some groceries. Actually, she probably has already. But thanks for the offer."
I hear Khai quietly sigh with relief, which I find as heart warming as always.
Though I don't like for him to worry so much about me, it does make me feel special at least.

***Hazel's POV***
No sooner do Khai and Tyrone head upstairs to do their math homework when there's a knock at the door.
I walk over and open it, appalled to find it's a vampire and not Jatix or Rassler, like I was hoping.
He immediately holds his hands up.
"I come in peace and my mom is friends with Tyrone's mom." He quickly rattles off.
I stare at him momentarily, then sigh.
"Oh alright, come on in." I say.
He steps inside and glances around before holding a hand out to me.
"I'm Killian Aldridge." He greets me.
"Hazel Lunar." I say, reluctantly shaking his hand.
"I don't mean to make this interaction short, but is Khai around? And Tyrone? I need to talk to them."
"What about?" I ask.
Killian hesitates.
"It's just... something concerning one of their classmates." He replies.
It seems cryptic and spikes my curiosity, but I don't want to be invasive either, so I refrain from questioning that particular topic any closer.
"Uh... before you go talk to them..." I start, feeling a little disconcerted. "Khai doesn't know he's a werewolf. Or that you're a vampire. In fact, he doesn't even know supernaturals are real. I haven't gotten around to it yet. So please don't mention any of that to him."
