"Okay..." Jess's mother began to say. "Just know that we love you. And we would do anything for you to be safe." She continued. Her father agreed. "So, when you were little, Jess, the doctors had an accident happen when you were born. See, the nurses put th-" Her mother began. "W-what kind of accident??" Jess said as she felt a little anger shoot up to her brain.
"When you....and Jade we're born, the hospital put th-" her mother began to say before she got cut off by her daughter. "Wait....hold up. Me and Jade? You mean, you gave birth to both of us? Like... twins? I have a sister?" The more Jess rambled on, the more confused she got. "Yes, Honey." Her father said, holding his wife's hand. "A few weeks after your first birthdays, the doctors gave us a call, from the hospital where you were born. They... they began to tell us that Jade, actually had to leave... for a while." Her father began.
"W-w-why?? Why did she have to leave?" The confused little girl asked, almost yelling. "Calm down swee-" her mother started to say, but Jess once again. "No! I am not going to calm down! You two kept my twin sister away from me for 14 years!"
"Jess, Hun, just listen!" Her mother said. Jess sat down and started to listen to her mother again. "The doctors switched Jade with another baby girl that looked a lot like her... and you. So, we had a different baby girl that wasn't Jade for a year. And the Doctors said that the other mother wanted Jade because she wanted her biological baby with her."
"So why didn't you guys get the real Jade? Didn't the doctors switch the babies?" Jess began to say. Then her father jumped in the conversation. "The 'real' Jade actually got hurt real bad in a car accident. And didn't survive."
"So I don't have a twin sister anymore?" Jess began to feel drops of water sliding down her cheeks. She didn't know why. She didn't know Jade that well. She didn't grow up with her. But it just broke her heart to know that her sister died. "I'm afraid not..." her mother said.
"It's getting late, I'm gonna head up to bed." Said Jess. Hoping that resting will help her feel better. But rest did nothing. She layed awake in her bed until daylight happened again.
