I can explain...
"No, Louis, I had enough of this. You never answer my calls nor my texts, you often hang in the downtown bars... I cannot handle this anymore. I'm tired of waiting like an idiot by the doors till early hours. " You say to your boyfriend, Louis. He was just looking at his feet and listening to your words. "We're breaking up... It's over..." You finally say, with tears forming in your eyes.
"No, baby, please. Don't break up with me, I beg you." He looked at you and pleaded. His voice became shaky and his eyes were sparkling from the tears.
"No, Louis. It's over..." You say and shut the door before his very face.
"No! Bree, wait, I can explain! Bree!" You hear him shouting by the door, knocking and pleading you to get him back. This was the end; you couldn't handle it anymore. For the last couple of weeks, he started to act really strangely. He often didn't come home, called or texted you, nothing... You would just hear from the rest of the boys the stories of how he hangs in the bars till early hours.
Of course, you didn't want to believe it. You and Louis were together for 5 years, and he would've never do anything like that. The truth was too hard for you to bear, so you followed him once, and you were sure that the lies you heard would soon be over.
They didn't.
You will never forget the feeling that hit you in that moment. Anger, sadness, disappointment and love hit you all at once, as you saw Louis talking to another girl at the bar. You never saw her face, just her back. But that was enough. Seeing Louis in a suit, and her in a dress was enough. But you definitely broke as you saw a boquet of roses by him.
You couldn't face Louis that night, so you just went home, crying. You were bringing a lot of attention to yourself that night, but you sincerely didn't care anymore. All you wanted to do, is to come home and cry yourself out in a corner of your bedroom. And so you did. You cried for hours, and you can still feel the tears today, a week later.
Your back pressed by the door and you sat down, sobbing. Louis was still knocking on the door and shouting to let him in.
"Bree, I can really explain everything. Please, I love you." He continued to shout, but you weren't listening to him anymore. You were so weak, that you fell asleep by your door.
Early in the morning, you woke up and went straight to the bathroom to take a cold shower. You tried to wash your tears away; you tried to wash off your feelings for him. But you cried even more...
After taking a shower and dressing yourself, you stormed into your bedroom and started to pack all of Louis' stuff in a bag, so you could just throw the memories away from you. You threw away everything you could find: the teddy bear he gave you on your 2nd date, pictures of you two, letters he used to write to you, perfumes... you threw everything away. You felt like you are throwing half of yourself away.
You broke as you took his shirt in your hand. It was his shirt that he gave you when you were freezing outside. You will remember that moment forever; the tinglings that ran through your body as he touched you, little jolts as he looked at you for the first time... These memories will be locked in your heart forever, no matter how hard you will try to kick them out.
You took the bag and went to the doors. You opened them and without looking around, started to walk towards the trash can, but you accidentally tripped over somebody's leg. The bag opened and all of the things fell out of it... Glass from the picture frames broke, as they hit the wet floor. As you looked down, you saw Louis, curled up by the doors. As he heard the shattering glass, he woke up and stood up immediately.
"Bree, listen to me, please... Just a minute." He pleaded and even knelt down before you, taking your hands in his cold ones, and looking at you with sadness."You have nothing to explain." You said, and removed your hands from his. As you tried to go and pick up the things that fell from the bag, he pulled you back and pressed your body to his.
"I have. Listen to me... The part of the rumors is real, and that is the fact that I was in the bars for the last couple of weeks. But I wasn't meeting another woman or anything like that. I was drinking just to get some courage to ask you something that could change our lives forever. And that woman who you saw the other night-" He said and knelt down, then took a little black box from his pocket, opened it and revealed a beautiful shiny ring. "-was the jeweller who brought me this. A ring that I ordered to be forged just for you... And those flowers who are now laying on the doormat were for you. Everything was for you, the love of my life. In these 5 years we've spent together, I finally found my other half which I don't want to let go. Bree, can I have the honor to call you my other half, my one and only, my wife?" He said with a wide smile that enchanted you instantly.
You took the ring and looked at the words that were forged into it. Freezed in love, the words that reminded you of your first meet up. You placed the ring on your finger.
"Yes." You said and then kissed Louis' lips, which were all cold and shaky. "Why didn't you tell me all of this? If you did, none of this would happen." You said, and connected your foreheads.
"I didn't have enough courage." He said, and then kissed you again. You curled up in his chest and listened to his heartbeat.
"Were you planning to throw that shirt I gave to you?" He asked and then sneezed.
"No." You chuckled. "I think I'll be the one who will give that shirt to you now." You both smiled and with those smiles, opened a new chapter of your life..
