A/N: This little fluffy one-shot was actually a dream I had the other night. Best. Dream. Ever. Seriously. What could be better than having an Adamtina dream? I decided to write it down as a one-shot and post it.
Summary: When Adam isn't feeling good, Christina takes it into her hands to get him home.
Christina stole a glance toward Adam and cocked her head. Since the beginning of today's auditions, he had not acted with his normal playfulness. Instead, dark bags hung under his eyes and he looked pale. There was no spark in the hazel eyes she loved so much. Thinking he hadn't gotten any sleep the night before, she shrugged his appearance off and turned back to wait for the next contestant.
Moments later, a deep, melodic voice of a male surrounded them, singing Sleeping at Lasts' Saturn. It was serenading, heartwarming, and Christina hit her button. Her chair turned and she smiled at the young man on the stage. His eyes seemed to light up, and his voice grew bolder with each note he hit. All three of Christina's fellow coached soon hit their buttons. When the song ended, a loud cheering erupted around them.
"Hey, what's your name, sweetheart?" Christina asked the teen.
"Brendan Lake," the contestant answered shyly.
"Wow. You've got talent, man," Pharrel praised.
"Thank you," Brendan said, smiling brightly.
"How about picking me for your coach?" Blake said.
"Hey, I spun around first," Christina said, thrusting out her lip in a pretend pout. "You three didn't hit your buttons until the song was almost done."
Brendan laughed nervously at their playfully banter.
"So, Brendan, who's it going to be?" Adam asked impatiently. Christina frowned over at him. Adam was never impatient, and certainly never surly. What had gotten into him?
"Oh, man," Brendan said, frowning thoughtfully. Christina turned her gaze back to the teen. "Well, all of you are great. But Christina turned first, so I'm going to go with her."
"Yes!" Christina squealed. She jumped up and gave Brendan a hug. "Welcome to Team Xtina, Brendan."
The auditions for the day soon came to an end. After the day of excitement, Christina was ready to head home and see her baby girl and son. They would be excited to see her, and the thought made her heart warm. Her children were the light of her world and she had plans to spend the rest of her evening with them, watching a Disney movie, with both of them curled up next to her.
Christina stood up and stretched her stiff muscles. She caught Adam from the corner of her eye, and turned to glance at him. Adam looked like he was going to pass out, she thought. Worried, she headed over to his chair.
"You okay, Ad?" she asked him.
Adam looked up and smiled, but it didn't reach his eyes. "Fine," he muttered. "You headed home?"
"Yep." Christina studied him for a moment and frowned. He looked sick to her. His face was flushed, possibly from fever. Out of instinct, she gently pressed the back of her hand against his forehead; it was burning hot. "Honey, you're burning up," she said worriedly. "Are you sure you're okay?"
Adam shook his head. "Really, I'm fine," he sighed. He hesitated for a moment before speaking again. "Actually, I feel awful."
Christina reached out and gently smoothed his tousled hair back. "I thought you looked sick. Do you want me to find something for you to take?" she asked, her motherly side kicking in. Adam needed her, and she wasn't just going to leave him here without making sure he was alright.
