New ASSistant coach

I woke slowly, rubbing the sleep from my eyes until I could see straight. I groaned, having those uncomfortable red marks down there from sleeping in your leo was not fun. Stuffing my grips into my bag, I went to the parking lot towards my car and sat down in it, resting for a second. I could barely move, my body was so sore. I drove off towards my house, luckily it was pretty close to the gym, and luckily coach had a later practice scheduled for us today. When I walked in my house, my mom was pacing nervously, talking to my dad.

“I knew I should have taken her home, and not let her stay all night.”

“Relax,” my dad said “At least she wasn’t out getting into trouble.” My mother sighed.

“I guess you’re right Jim.” I rolled my eyes and made my way up to my room, slowly but surely. Flopping down on my bed, I realized that I had a pile of homeschool work that I had been putting off. Eh, I’ll do it later, I thought. After pulling out my Iphone and checking all of my messages, although there wasn’t many, and my facebook profile, I fell asleep again all sprawled out.

When my mother woke me up, I wasn’t too happy about having to go to the gym again, but I knew I had to. I changed into a different leo and brushed my hair, teeth, and put on makeup to try and make myself look presentable. My mom smirked at me as she looked into the bathroom; she knew that I never put makeup on for practice. I’m sure she suspected there was a boy I was trying to impress. There wasn’t! I just wanted a change. I think. When I got to practice me and my team began the daily process of warm ups, running laps, jumps, and handstand walks. Coach John walked in, a little late actually, but none of us were about to yell at him, or we would probably have to stay late after practice.

“Girls!” John yelled, “Gather round!” We all sat in a circle around Coach while he explained what we were doing today. Then he said, “We will also be having an assistant coach that will be coming in later today.” All of us started whispering to eachother, “What do you think our new coach is going to be like?” My teammate and best friend since I was 2, Regan, whispered to me. I shrugged, wondering that myself.

We went to the vault and started our timer, or warmup, vaults. Such as yurchenko layouts to our backs. There are 2 vaults required at our upcoming nationals, mine being a Cheng and a yurchenko double twist. I was a pretty good vaulter and me and my teammates were pretty confident about nationals and making the national team. I hurtled myself down the runway at full force, threw myself down into the roundoff, punched off the board and swung around till my body was forward I flipped of the table in a stretched position and  dropped down into the landing. Piece of cake. I thought to myself.

“Terrence!” Coach boomed from across the gym, “Come here!” I looked over and my stomach dropped. Oh no this can’t be happening.
