“Terrence is it?” The guy from last night said to me, a smirk on his face. I had to admit, close up and in the light of day when I could think straight he was actually really hot. With cropped dirty blonde hair that went up in a point at the front and sparkling blue eyes, he was sure to be the crush of all the girls at the gym. But not me. I have no time for boys. I don’t need boys. All I need is gymnastics. I snapped back to reality just as he joked, “Will you let go of my hand now?” I dropped his hand like it was on fire and held the tingling hand behind my back. “My names Mason.” With a wink.
Coach interjected, ruining the sort of romantic moment between me and Mason “I excpect you to treat Mason with the same respect that you treat me with, no talking back to him and you need to remember all of my rules. Mason is here temporarily while he trains her at Back Salto Gymnastics.” The fact that he was a male gymnast just made him even sexier, and as I started practicing again I found myself imagining the muscles that lay under all of his clothes. Regan ran up to me “Is that the new assistant coach?!” She squealed, “He’s the hottest person I have ever seen! Maybe I will finally get a boyfriend!” I felt guilty for admiring Mason then, if she wanted him, she could have him. I would have to ice him out so that Regan could have her chance with him and I wouldn’t go after him. Anyway, what do I care? It’s not like I like him. I’m too focused for that, other gymnasts focus on boys, school, shopping, friends, but not me. That’s the first step to quitting, distractions. So, in a way it was good that my attention could be all put into gymnastics. Right?
