Two weeks went by faster than they should have. I hated how fast it seemed. I'd spent most of it with Lex and I hated to leave her. It was surprising how close we had become in the past thirteen days. I could have labeled her as my best friend, but we weren't quite there yet, however, she did know some things about me that the guys didn't and that had to count for something.
I knew that it did.I was going to miss talking with Lex, but I still had one more day to spend with her until we had to leave for a few months.
She was supposed to be over at any moment, but I had learned from experience that she wouldn't be here on time.
I chuckled softly. It never failed, she was always late. When we went to the Zoo four days ago she had been almost two hours late, a week ago at the mall she spent three hours inside of Hot Topic, giggling with the cashier, Anthony. We had been to so many places it was crazy. I didn't think it was possible to spend so much time with someone and not get sick of them. I wasn't sick of Lex at all, which surprised me. Hell, I even got sick of my bandmates sometimes, but that was probably normal.I glanced at the clock on my phone, crossing my legs and sitting back on the couch. It was already 8:15. She was thirty minutes late. I shrugged to myself, a small chill running down my back.
Should I get up and turn the A/C off? I shook my head, "Nah." I knew that I would be gone soon and if I turned it off now it would be hot as hell when I got back home. And humid, I couldn't forget humid. It was one of the worst things about living in Florida, but after a while I had gotten relatively used to it.The door opened, revealing Lex. She stood in the doorway, just like she always did, waiting for a response, a movement, telling her that she was allowed in. She was always allowed in my house, but I wasn't going to say anything about it. I nodded, acknowledging her presence, looking away from my phone to her face.
She was wearing more makeup than I had ever seen before, but it wasn't over done. It was pretty. I wasn't going to lie, she did look incredibly pretty. Not the, you're pretty, let's fuck kind of way, but more in a sisterly way.Her black dress swayed slightly, moving just above her knees. I glanced down at her shoes and laughed.
"What?" She pondered, frowning at me. I shook my head and stood up, smoothing out my jacket and straightening my tie.
"We're wearing the same Converse" She glanced from my feet to hers, smirking.
"You're going to have to deal with matching me all night. You sure you're ready for this?" I scoffed, shaking my head and gently pushing her out the wooden door into the chilly night, my car keys in my other hand. She shivered softly as we walked and I frowned.
"You didn't bring a jacket?" Lex shrugged and opened the passenger door. I smirked, getting in and putting the keys in the ignition.
"Seatbelt." She reminded me. I glared at her but when she didn't budge, did as she said. I didn't understand why it bothered her so much. She never wore one, so why did I have to? She always yelled at me when I didn't and fighting with her was one of my least favorite things, even though it had only happened once over something completely stupid, I didn't want it to happen again. I smiled and pulled out into the street. Lex folded her arms across her chest, gently rubbing down her goose pimples. I reached over and turned the heating on.
Street lights shone in my eyes as I drove, trying to hurry to the restaurant. I had planned to take her out to say goodbye and even though it wasn't very fancy, we both agreed on wearing the nicest clothes we had. I had laughed at the idea when she suggested it, but agreed. I wanted to see the look on every one's faces when we arrived at Pizza Hut looking like we'd both stepped out of a movie screen.
I looked over to Lex who was still rubbing her arms and still without a seatbelt. I was actually curious as to why she never let me go anywhere with her unless I was wearing one but she refused to put hers on no matter how much I tried to convince her.
