ARIA POV
Still running on pure adrenaline I came across an opening in the maze.
I could immediately tell that I had reached the back of the maze as I could just about see the school, quite idiotically I realised that the maze was an unnecessary journey we didn't actually need to take. Looking at the school I noticed the hedge stopped abruptly as soon as I got out, the hedge was the length of the school and didn't go around the outside at all meaning I was able to see cars driving past. I mentally slapped myself and my friends because of our stupidity!
People. I could hear people?
"Where the hell is everyone?" I whispered to myself nervously.
The more I got closer to school the louder the chaos seemed to get, it was bizarre, almost as if someone was messing with our minds.
My breathing not fully under control and a light sheet of sweat on my forehead I continued to look for any source of life. I was cold; clothes ripped to almost shreds, I wondered whether I was going insane.
"HELLO? IS ANYONE AROUND?" I shouted "SCOTT?" I continued hopeful he would also be out of the maze.
Nothing, I got nothing.
"Hello? Please somebody?" I said not as loud but still frustrated and my strained voice clear.
The only thing in my path was the brightly lit school which was true to the town it was in.
MELODY POV
The school. I see the school!
I'm so numb from the cold and the fear my excitement is dulled.
My chest is rising and falling so rapidly yet I don't feel the stress it's under.
The only thing I feel is the pain in my heart, the pain of not knowing if my friends are okay and the panic rushing through my veins- I may have lost them.
It feels like when you lost your mum in a supermarket when you where younger. I chuckled to myself, hilarious now but completely terrifying back then.
Too busy worrying about my friends I was oblivious to the lack of people around me, I mean I heard people? I hear them as if they were right next to me?
I saw someone though, on the horizon near the school.
Promptly I made a decision, trying to not let trepidation cloud my next move; I ran to person, deciding that anyone is better than no one.
ARIA POV
Looking all around me I suddenly caught glimpse of someone running towards me, apprehensive at first I took a few steps back, then as I came to my senses I looked at the person in more detail.
"MELODY??" I shouted as a question
"MELODY!!!" It was her. I swear it was her.
Recognising her short blonde hair I ran to her quickly.
Not caring whether I hurt her at that point, i threw my arms around her and held on for a few seconds, I just was beyond ecstatic to see her alive I didn't care about anything else.
"Thank god" I said silently to myself smiling.
MELODY POV
I kept my eyes on her as I ran; she finally saw me running towards her and she seemed tense at first, taking a few steps back. "ARIA!!" I shrieked trying to show her it was me and I was not a threat. She realised and she begins to run.
We finally reached each other and nearly knocked each other over. We weren't the friends that kissed each other on the cheek and said love you all the time (like some annoying best friends) but even though we'd not known each other long I could tell her anything, we had the abusive but playful sarcastic friendship which is what made me like her so much, she was able to take the abuse and give it back in return.
I give her massive bone crushing hugs often; this was an agonising bear hug.
We broke apart "are you okay?" She asked, worry plastered across her face.
"Im fine! What the hell is happening?" I asked.
Shaking her head she replied "I have no clue! I was separated and I continued walking, I was trying to find you an the guys for ages. Where are they? They were with you?" I shook my head. "The same thing happened to me a few seconds after you and I was separated from them- hurt like a bitch being dragged through those bushes" I said trying to make a joke out of the situation, giving up with the jokes as she looked at me with concern "We need to find them Melody. Before that thing comes back.."
As the words left Aria's lips, it was there.
An Alpha was stood right in front of us.
