Chapter 13

"So?", I ask as everyone pulls out of the campus parking lot and head for Chris's place.

"So? So what?", Tobias echoes.

"So what? Are you trying to test my patience? Last night. Where does that take us?", I shot back.

Tobias keeps quiet for awhile before smiling.

"Stephanie Chapman, I wasn't drunk or high when I said I really like you. I really do. In fact, I was thinking if you and I would like to make it official?", he says as the lights go green.

"Wow. Uhm. You're pretty straightforward, huh?", I reply, shock at first from the initial frankness of his statements.

"Isn't that one of the reasons why you're attracted to me. Apart from my dangerously good looks", he quips.

"Yeah, I guess. So what do you like about me, then?", I ask and wait for his reaction. It's exactly what I expected. He freezes up and stammers. Cute. So cute.

"Well, I....heh, funny question. I guess, well, I don't know.", he struggles.

"You guess you don't know? So maybe you actually know?", I ask, putting him through mental hell.

"Well, I mean, don't think I'm shallow or whatever but, I mean, it's true. You're...pretty, and nice.", he nearly stalls as we pull away from an incline.

In a world where most guys prefer to call a girl 'Hot', he said 'pretty' instead. 10 points to Tobias.

I smile at him, put my hand over his as he rests it on the shifter.

"So, you planning to tell everyone or keep this ninja?", I ask after a moment of silence.

"Well, I haven't actually asked you yet so I don't wanna' say anything but will you be my-"

"Yes! Tobias, yes!", I shock him by saying it out loud and chuckling at him. He immediately falls silent with the biggest, goofiest smile on his face as his face turns red.

"At a loss for words, boyfriend?", I stress the word 'boyfriend' and watch as his smile gets even bigger and his face even a deeper shade of red.

He opens his mouth but nothing comes out. "Yeah, uhm.", he manages.

We say nothing more until we get to Chris's neighbourhood and the other issue finally snaps me back, out of my momentary happiness. Chris and my secret.

We get out of the car and assemble at his front door. Daniel rings the bell. No answer.

"Let's bust his door down and storm the place.", Thomas says, only to get an elbow in the guts from Rachel. "Are you stupid? Who's gonna' pay for it?". 

"I was just kidding. Ouch.".

The door opens and Chris is right in front of us. Daniel and Christine launch a tirade of questions before Chris apologizes and invites us in. Apparently, he lost his phone and he was completely knocked out. 

"Someone got lucky, huh?", Thomas grabs Chris around the shoulder. 

"Nah, no one got lucky. Just had a rough night out. Must've drank a little bit too much, I guess.", Chris says. 

"Well, since we've finally uncovered the mystery of the missing Christopher, I have something to say,", Tobias announces as he stands in the middle of the living hall. "Since you guys are awesome, I decided to let all of you in on a recent revelation,", he holds his hand out to me. My eyes immediately widen as I realize what he's doing. 

The group starts making noises as the idea sinks into everyone's head. 

"Oh my God! Tobias! Here? Now?!", I shot back, face already blushing.
