Caretaker (Chapter Four)

Eren's POV

     We had the day off today which was good since that gave Annie time to recover. I got up and started to put on my uniform. Armin finally woke up too and it seemed that Jean and Marco had already left. "What time is it?" Armin groaned while rubbing his eyes. As soon as I checked the time, my eyes widened. "It's 8am! I have to go check up on Annie!" I yelled as I threw on my boots and ran out the door. It was hard to get to the infirmary since there were so many people in the way. Mikasa was walking towards me and she yelled "Stop Eren!" But I did not have time to stop. I blew past her so fast that her scarf flew off and landed on Jean and he fainted. Finally, I got out the building and ran to the infirmary. With lightning speed I blew through the doors and ran to Annie's recovery room. As I entered I immediately relaxed to see her asleep. She looks so cute when she's asleep... What are you thinking Eren! I shook that thought out of my head and then sat in the chair next to her. Just then, she groaned and her eyes started to open up. She looked at me and I thought I saw her lips almost turn into a smile. But, they quickly turned into their usual self. "Hi Eren..." She said while she looked away slightly. I saw a pink tint on her cheeks. Is she blushing?! Why would she be blushing? Then, Annie snapped me out of my thoughts and she asked "So why are you here?" I cleared my throat and said "I'm gonna take care of you today." She squinted her eyes and then replied "What about training?" Oh no, she must not know. "All the cadets have the day off to do what they want." I said while scratching my neck. She then looked away quickly and said "So rather than doing whatever you want, you'd rather take care of me?" She whispered averting my gaze. "Well, of course Annie, we're friends after all..." I said and she looked at me. What happened next took me a couple seconds to process. She hugged me really tight and whispered "Thank you..." I hugged her back and replied "Annie..." I could not believe Annie was hugging me, I thought she never showed any emotion to people. We then released each other and she had a blush on her face while she was avoiding eye contact with me. Suddenly, Bertholdt came in and looked mad as soon as he saw me. "Hey Bertholdt" Annie said to him. He looked at me and then at her. "I want to take care of you today since your out..." He said while blushing. I felt really awkward to be in the middle of this. "Sorry Bertholdt, but Eren is taking care of me..." Annie whispered. I could tell Bertholdt became furious when he heard that. "Fine" was all he said and he turned and walked out the door. I looked back at Annie and she shrugged. "That was awkward." I said while rubbing my neck. She nodded and then layed back down. "How about I get you breakfast?" I asked her while standing up. She looked at me and said "That would be nice..." I walked to the door and then said to her "I'll be back in 5 minutes, ok?" She nodded and then closed her eyes. After leaving the infirmary, I saw Mikasa looking in all the recovery rooms. "Looking for me?" I said as I smirked at her. She immediately looked at me and ran at me and hugged me. "Hey Eren..." She whispered as she hugged me tighter. I gently broke her grip on me loose and then she let go. She returned to her normal self and crossed her arms. "So where are you going?" She asked while staring me dead in the eyes. "I'm going to get Annie breakfast." I said as I started to walk past her. "You can come with me if you want!" I yelled at her after I was about 20 feet away from her. I heard fast paced footsteps and then before I knew it she was next to me. Heh normal Mikasa... I smiled as we walked to the cafeteria.

3rd person POV

     As Mikasa and Eren entered the cafeteria, they were immediately confronted by Armin and Krista. "Hey guys, where were you?" Armin asked them while holding hands with Krista. "Well I was with Annie and Mikasa was looking for me so..." Eren said. Armin then face palmed and groaned "I forgot you were going to see Annie." Eren rolled his eyes and said back "You should listen more with that brain of yours." That got Eren a glare from Krista and she got a glare from Mikasa. She then immediately hid behind Armin. Eren smirked and then made his way to get Annie her food. When Eren got there he learned there was only enough food for one person. He grabbed the food and then went and said "Bye" to Armin and walked back to the infirmary. He did not notice he was not alone until he heard a familiar voice say "Can I carry that for you?" He looked back to see Mikasa still following him. "I thought you would have stayed with Armin?" He said to her while she grabbed the food out of his hands and carried it. She looked at Eren and rolled her eyes "Do you think I would stay with the coconut and the goddess?" She mumbled. Eren broke out into laughter and she smiled slightly. They arrived to the infirmary and walked to Annie's recovery room and entered. Annie smiled at Eren, but glared at Mikasa. Mikasa returned the favor as then she leaned against the wall. Eren walked over to Annie and gave her food to her. After she was about half way done, she looked at Eren and asked "Did you eat?" Eren shook my head and replied "That's the last of the food they had made." She then took some of her food and said to Eren "Open your mouth." At first Eren was confused, but then he got what she was going to do. Eren blushed and opened his mouth and she gently put the spoonful of food in his mouth. After he ate it, Eren smiled and said "Thank you Annie." She nodded and then got another scoop of food and fed it to him. Eren looked back to see Mikasa boiling mad. He knew that she was mad about him letting Annie feed her food to him. Because when Mikasa tried to do something like that, he would always turn her down. "Alright Eren I'm going to go..." She said as she began to walk out. He replied "Ok Mikasa, see you at dinner..." She looked back at him and smiled when Eren said "See you at dinner." She then left and her footsteps became faint and then gone. Eren sighed and looked back to Annie. "How was your food?" He asked while she set her empty plate next to her on a desk. "It was good..." She replied while laying down. After a couple seconds, Bertholdt walked in and growled "Eren, can I speak to you in private?" Eren gulped and then got up and walked out into the hallway. When he got out he leaned on the wall and asked "What is it Bertholdt?" He could see Bertholdt was mad, and knew something about Annie was bothering him. "Why are you around Annie so much?" Bertholdt growled. Eren eyes widened and he immediately knew what was wrong. He must be jealous of me taking care of Annie he thought to himself. "I'm just taking care of her because we are friends..." Eren said while he scratched his neck. Bertholdt squinted his eyes at Eren and then replied "Eren, I'm not dumb, I know it's more than just that." Eren's heart skipped a beat when he heard Bertholdt say that. I guess I do have feelings for Annie... Is that why I care so much for her? Eren mentally asked himself. Bertholdt sighed and then said "Listen, just stay away from Annie and we will be fine, ok?" When Eren heard that he got angered and then lost his cool. He approached Bertholdt and then started growling at him "I don't care what you say or want so you can just go f*** yourself!" Bertholdt then started to sweat profusely and then he turned and walked away while muttering things. Eren calmed down and then walked back into Annie's recovery room and sat down. Annie looked at him and asked "What did he want?" Eren thought if he should tell her or not. "Nothing that important..." Annie knew Eren was lying by the look on his face, but she played along. Annie closed her eyes and then fell asleep. Eren watched her sleep and then noticed he too was tired. He looked at the time and noticed it was a couple hours before dinner so he decided to take a nap. He layed his head on the edge of Annie's bed and then shut his eyes and fell asleep.

Eren's POV

     I woke up to being shaken by someone. I looked up and saw Mikasa looking down on me with anger and sadness in her eyes. As I turned my head, I looked and saw me and Annie were hugging each other while in the same bed. I blushed so red that it felt as if my skin would burn off. Gently, I got out of Annie's grip and got up. Mikasa then grabbed my hand and we left the room to get dinner. After a couple minutes of walking, we arrived at the cafeteria. I decided to just grab enough food for me and Annie and head back. After I got my food I went to the door only to be stopped by Mikasa standing in front of me. "Where are you going?" She said while she glared at me. I got chills down my spine and then replied "To give Annie her food..." She looked at me with a even scarier look. I rolled my eyes and then pushed past her and out the door before she could stop me. I could hear her following me so when I got to the infirmary, and then to Annie's recovery room, I locked the door. It was obvious that Mikasa was outside the door. Annie then woke up and I could hear her stomach grumble. She sat up and smiled at me. I handed her food to her and then started to eat my own. We finished our food and I threw them in the garbage in the room. "Hey Eren, I feel better now, can we go take a walk?" I nodded and then helped her out of bed. As soon as we opened the door, Mikasa rushed in and grabbed my hand. "Uhh Mikasa, would you be so kind to let go?" I asked her. She blushed and then let go. Annie pushed her bangs out of her face and then asked "Can we go now Eren?" I nodded and then we left with a speechless Mikasa standing there looking at us from down the hall. We headed outside and went to a lake that was nearby. There was a bench we sat on and then looked out into the scenery. "Finally I'm better now..." Annie said to me while still looking out. "Yeah, we are using 3DMG tomorrow so this was perfect timing." I said back to her. After a couple minutes passed, we decided to head back to our dorms. I walked Annie to her dorm. "Goodnight Annie, see you tomorrow." I said to her. She replied "Goodnight Eren..." With that she walked into her dorm. I sighed and then walked to my dorm. After 10 minutes of walking I arrived to my dorm and walked in. To my surprise Mikasa was sitting on my bed while Armin, Jean, and Marco are gawking at her. She then got up and approached me. She went to grab me, but I tripped her and watched her fly out the door onto the dirt. I sighed and said "Goodnight Mikasa." Then I shut the door and locked it. I glared at everyone in the room. "Alright guys, get to sleep!" I growled at them. Jean rolled his eyes while Armin and Marco sighed and they all fell asleep. I then relaxed into my bunk and fell asleep also.
