"Girls, here's £50. Spend it wisely and I'll meet you back here in 3 hours." Phil (Lilly's dad) said. We both nod and walk away from him and into the cute streets called the Lanes. I loved the atmosphere here. Everyone was so friendly and it gave me a fuzzy feeling inside. Especially as it was nearly Christmas.

"So where do you wanna go first?" Lilly asks me sweetly.

"How about Jo Malone?" I reply.

"Oh my god yes!" Lilly squeals and we make our way to our favourite shop. We walk in and I smile at the lady behind the desk. I pick up my favourite candle and indulge the smell of fresh oceans and seasides.

"Do you wanna buy some candles to light when we're pampering?" Lilly asks and I reply with a huge grin. We pick up one each and pay at the register.

"Thank you!" I say to the shop worker.

"You're welcome, have a lovely day girls." We smile and walk back out into the crowded streets.

"How about Lush? Bath bomb time!" Lilly wiggles her eyebrows at me as I laugh at her. We walk to lush and immediately are taken away by the sweet smell of all the soaps and bath bombs mixing together.

"Oh my god, we have to get butter ball. Tanya says it smells amazing!" I say a clapping my hands.

"And we have to get Phoenix, it's one of Zoe's favourites. Plus, it. Smells amazing. I wish it was edible, I'd eat it all the time!" Lilly squeals putting the popular bath bomb into the basket, along with two of our favourite face masks. We pay at the register and skip out of the shop. Lilly grand my arm and links it with hers.

"Let's eat. I'm starving!" She said excitedly.

"Cafe Nero?" I ask but already know the answer. As we arrive in our favourite place to eat, I spot a table with two sofa chairs opposite each other. I run over and place my bag down on a chair to show it is ours.

"What do you want?" Lilly shouts over at me getting out her favourite purse.

"Um, just some shortbread biscuits and a cappuccino please" I reply, getting out my phone. I decide to text my mum and tell her where we are.

"In Nero. See you later x'

However, as soon as I press the send button it says it wasn't delivered. I wonder what was going on? Mum always had her phone with her. Lilly came and sat down with our food and drinks, when my phone rung.

"Hello?" I say into the phone.

"Hello, Miss Bridgewell. This is Brenda calling from the Brighton police department. Unfortunately your mother has been hit by a car, and has sadly passed away. We have found a place for you at Sunshine Children's home, where you will hopefully be adopted. We are so sorry for your loss. Your social worker, Mrs Kent, will pick you up outside your house in 2 hours. Bye now" and with that, she hung up.

I started to cry until I could cry no more, and as soon as I told Lilly what had happened she comforted me and rung her dad to say she was taking me home ASAP.

We arrived at my home and I felt absolutely useless. Nothing in the world could describe how I was feeling. Lilly packed all of my things for me and before I knew it I was being whisked away to a children's home. What was happening?

"Are you ok, sweetie? Don't worry we will take care of you for now." Mrs Kent cooed, as she rubbed my knee. I didn't reply and didn't plan to. At all. We pulled in ten minutes later to a big building; my new home.
