Chapter 2: Lunch and a Walk?
"Hey ready for lunch?"
I looked up at Liam "Almost, give me a second." I pushed my textbook inside my locker, grabbed my purse, slid on my jacket and shut the door. "Done, okay where do you want to do?" At Quillings we had open campus. Lucky for Liam and I, we had free period just after lunch, so we had a good bit of time.
"Your choice. It doesn't really matter."
"Okay then how about Rokoi, I have been dying to have some sushi." We stepped down the stairs and headed for the door. I quickly checked my phone as we reached the bottom. Liam had already hailed a cab and was holding the door open for me. I slid inside.
"Thanks" I smiled at him. This was typical good-mannered Liam, holding the door open for his closest friend......
Although deep down I wished we were more.
"Where to?" The cab driver asked.
"1341 4th Avenue please" I saw the driver nod through the rear view mirror. We arrived at the restaurant shortly, when Liam insisted on paying. Not that it mattered much, it was only a few bucks. We usually switch off... when Liam lets me. He always insists.
We stepped up to the young hostess, who checked him out and grinned.
"Table for two please."
"Anyone you want" She offered him with a wink.
Liam smiled, amused. He then turned to me. "Gwen love, which table?"
I immediately saw the smile drop off the hostess's face as she glared at me. It took me every bit of energy to keep from bursting out laughing.
I scanned the room, "Um the one by the window."
The girl led us to a small table and laid out menus. "Your server will be right with you." She smiled hopefully at Liam and left, without acknowledging me. When she disappeared from view I raised an eyebrow at him.
He gave me a smile "What? I was just having fun. Oh come on, I know you were on the verge of laughing, it was in your eyes."
I cracked a smile to match his, "The way you called me 'love' was just the breaking point. How the heck do you do that?"
"Do what?"
"That! How can you play with peoples minds just because you're good looking?"
He shrugged, "Its a talent."
"Sure" I rolled my eyes.
"I'm kidding. You can do it too, you just never pay attention."
"Um no, I can't."
"I'm not lying. You could do that to any guy, anywhere, anytime. You just haven't noticed how they stare at you."
I blushed. Ugh my feelings are coming out.
"You're pretty Lynn. Believe me." He could say that whenever, and i would know that he hasn't developed feelings for me. Sadly.
"You're better looking."
"Yup, and apparently better looking that Noah Waldon."
"Sure."
The waiter walked up to our table. "Hi, I'm Amy, and I'll be your server today. Are you guys ready to order."
"Yeah, I'll have some Black Tea and two orders of Volcano Rolls." I placed my menu down on the table.
"And for you?" The waiter looked at Liam for the first time. I could see her eyes get wide as she took him in.
