Maknae = the youngest in a group
Hyung = what younger boys calls older boys
saranghae = i love you
A converging lens is… I was remembering more things to do with Physics. Eurgh, I hate physics!
Then I thought of my parents and good grades. Come on, Dara! You have to do this right!
I was listening to my classical music. It helped me concentrate.
I thought of yesterday’s episode with Bom. Her Korean music and her Korean singers singing Korean…
I sighed. I hated those songs. Why? I knew very little Korean. But I aimed to learn.
Until then, no more depressing Korean songs.
I buried my nose in my Science notes again.
“Unnie! They’re almost here!”
“Mm.” I grunted.
La la la la la… Dum di dum di dah…
“Dara!” she exclaimed, jabbing me hard in the ribs.
“What?” I jolted upright, shocked by the jab. My earphones fell out of my too-small ears.
“There they are!” she whispered, pointing at the car coming down the driveway.
It was a sleek red Ferrari. Boys all around groaned. How would they ever live up to another guy with a Ferrari?
One guy stepped out as the car stopped. He was wearing black shades and cool jeans with a loose shirt. Slowly, he pulled off his shades with a smooth action. He flashed a grin at the watching crowd.
I sniffed. Rich guys!
There was nothing more to them than arrogance.
I turned and walked away, listening to my music and reading my Science notes.
I didn’t hear the collective gasp as the third guy stepped out.
I strolled lazily up to class, settled in my seat at the back corner, and continued remembering formulas and rules as I waited for my class to enter.

I saw a girl walking away as I surveyed my new classmates. Huh. How rude!
I flashed a smile at the crowd, my mind and eyes still following the girl who walked away, oblivious to me and my other two friends. It’s her loss. If she chooses to ignore me, then I’ll just have to teach her a lesson.
I smiled. Maybe my time here wouldn’t be spent in boredom, after all.
The sajangnim walked up to us. “Here, these are your timetables for the week. Today you will be given a tour of the campus by me and I’ll show you where everything is. Tomorrow you’ll be starting lessons with the other students. Arrasseo?”
“Yes!” Maknae exclaimed. He was way too enthusiastic. I saw a few girls giggle. I tried to move away.
“I don’t know him.” I mouthed at them, pointing at the maknae and shaking my head.
“Excuse me?” The sajangnim was staring at me.
I bowed my head. As soon as he turned around, I winked at the girls.
They giggled some more.
“Yah! Stop flirting already!” Hyung said next to me.
I smirked. He was just upset I’d gotten to do it before him.
We started walking. I held out my arm, slowing down hyung and I, letting the maknae and sajangnim go in front.
“Remind me why we’re doing this again? Come on, even our surnames even have to be the same right? It’s Kim, isn’t it? What’s the point of this?” I asked hyung.
“Look Ji. YG wants us to experience school life and also…” he coughed, trying to hide what he was saying.
“Yah! What did you say?” I demanded.
“Err…” Top-hyung looked scared now. “Ji, don’t kill me, okay? YG wants you to learn some respect.”
“YAH! HOW DARE YOU TALK THAT WAY TO ME?!” I raised my hand to hit him.
Sajangnim and maknae turned around.
“Is there a problem, boys?”
“No sir!” Top-hyung said hurriedly.
He scurried after sajangnim, leaving me alone in the corridor.
“Excuse me, some people are trying to study in there. Could you bother to keep it down?” A female voice said behind me.
It was the girl who walked away.
“I’m sorry miss, but my hyung and I were just in the middle of a fight. Would you bother to keep your nose out of our business?” I replied with as much venom in my voice.
“Yeah, right.” She scoffed, folding her arms. “And why is it that you’re still screaming when your hyung has disappeared?”
“Because I feel like my voice needs exercising.” I replied sarcastically.
She sniffed. “Exercise it elsewhere.” She stated, shutting the door in my face.
If she knew who I was…
I sighed and counted to twenty. No matter what crazy thing I do next, I cannot let the whole school know who I really am.
I wanted to strangle that stupid girl!
