I hear the sirens, and start to panic, the red emergency lights flash brighter then a pixlet cameras flash. It takes me several seconds so realize that I need to get to the escape pod like we are told to do. I snatch my bag from the table and sprint down the stairs so fast I nearly trip at the bottom.
When entering the living room I see that my mom already has Acacia and my other sister Eve who is 6 in the escape pod. She frantically ushers me and all the blanket and survival things we will need on the surface. Half the stuff we need is pre-packed but mom adds our HNC pods, a box of 10.000 water puring tablets, and a bag full of vacuum sealed emergency food for extras. I start to worry, my dad is at work, mom says to me that the core has exploded and he is already dead. Tears stream down all our faces, on the bright side I am going to the surface.
Just as the pod starts to seal our door bell rings, I look at the camera at the front entrance and see that it's my best friend Aubrey with a massive survival hover bag.
I dash out the mom with mom yelling behind me."Grab her quick, we have to leave soon!"
I open the door and we run to the pod together, there was no time for explaining. Once we were in the sealed pod I slam the retreat button and just like that we were zooming to the surface.
It takes about two and a half hours to get to the surface, so we've been told. I am just a bundle of different emotions, I am so upset for my Dad had died in the explosion along with thousands of other men, women, and children. But on the other hand I am so thrilled, I am on my way to the surface and I can't wait to explore an adventure. It's truly amazing.
We are in the escape pod and my mom is programing our Human Teletic Communitcation Pods, or HTC pods. They have to be programmed to work on the surface, the pod once near the the top will scan the world and create a holographic image of the earth, it's a map, GPS and also has a tracking device so that each one of us with a pod shows up on the screen as a pale blue dot. The pod also has a guide for plants animals and birds. And on the map it shows us where there is water. It's supposed to be a reliable asset, and help us survive on the surface. While mom is setting that up Aubrey and I are sorting supplies. This escape containment is rather small and squishy, it's like and ancient vehical, a van I believe they called it, it is like a van but it has a higher ceiling. It barely fits the five of us let alone the supplies, we have lots of water purifing tablets, vaccumed sealed food, matches, and other things.
We've been travelling for about two hours when the containment starts to jitter a bit, it's slowing down, and we haven't made a plan yet. I don't feel prepared, I am nervous at what is to come.
