After I got over the shock of Freddie being able to talk, I was actually able to listen to what he was saying. He explained he had to move me to my new location. He couldn't yet tell me what it was though. All I knew was I had to pack what I felt was necessary. As I brought my bags downstairs I heard Genie talking to Freddie.
"So if you're taking her somewhere magical, what will happen back here? Police will think she's missing when she's not registered for grade nine." My aunt was always the one to worry. Freddie laughed.
"Don't think that there isn't a plan. We have some of the best witches from the institution, working on memory spells as we speak. All legal documents, and memories outside the family of Seraphina will be gone by the end of today. Rest assured she can always get them back if requested." He then noticed me.
"Done?" He asked. I nodded.
"So how do we get there?" I asked. Freddie jumped down from the stool he sat upon, and crept up to me. He grabbed the chain hanging from my locket and yanked gently.
"The same way I came." He responded, and walked out to the backyard. "You should get on with the goodbyes now. You probably won't see them again till christmas." Freddie explained. I looked at my relatives.
"Oh dear." Genie hugged me first. "I don't know what any of this is, but I hope wherever you are going it's a wonderful place." She had tears building up in her eyes. Jim hugged me next.
"Be good." He whispered. "And be sure to write us, if you can wherever you are." Casey added.
"She can." Freddie spoke up. Rod stood farther away, holding his head down.
"Have a good time." He said quietly. I nodded. Typical of a teenage boy that he didn't want to hug me. I joined Freddie in the backyard.
"Now open the locket Sera." Freddie instructed. I did so, and saw the circle of gold dust inside again. "Reach inside." He continued. "Reach inside with your fingers as best you can, and grab some of the dust." I was able to get a small handful out of it. My family stood behind, and I looked back at them. They looked sad and curious all at once.
"Now drop the dust on the ground, in circle big enough for you fall through." Freddie finished. I did as he said, and the dust formed what looked to be a passage through the ground. It swirled, and I could hear voices coming from it.
"I want you to jump in it, and when you land move out of the way. Because I'm going to put your laugage in the portal, and after that myself." Freddie told me. "When we are gone, pour the water over the portal. That's what closes it." He added, looking at my family.
"Got it." My uncle responded. I turned back at them, and smiled one last time. I knew I was going to be on some type of adventure that involved magic and the supernatural. It's just sad really, that this all had to happen after the death of my parents.
"Goodbye." I whispered, stepping back and falling through the portal.
I landed on a mattress, and quickly moved out of the way just as Freddie told me. Looking at my surroundings, I saw other mattresses every where in a huge cube shaped room. All of them had portals above. Others fell out of the portals, and were surprised to see me. They all whispered my name, and some smiled at me. I all of a sudden felt insecure, which I didn't often feel.
"Oh look at you! You've grown so much." A women grabbed my attention who was wearing all earthy colours, and had feathers decoration her long white hair. She pulled me into a tight hug.
"Umm hello." I said awkwardly. She let go after a minute, hearing my bags and Freddie hitting the mattress. Fred looked at the women, the man, and young lady next to her.
