I woke to a thump at my window, checking my bed side clock and realising it was 2am.

"Psst, Nate! Wake up!" I could hear my best friend Collin outside. "Nate get your ass up!" He yelled. I drug myself over to my window opening it to see Collin standing outside with the biggest grin plastered across his face telling me he was up to no good.

"What the hell do you want man, I'm sleepin'!" I yelled down at him.

"Hey bro, lets get going, gotta be outta' here by sun up." He yelled back walking towards his car

"Whatever." I mumbled and got dressed grabbing my wallet and cell phone on my way out the door. I got in Collin's new wrangler, his dad bought it for him for his birthday, mainly as a pity present for forgetting it in the first place. "Where we goin'?"

"New Orleans, baby!" and pumped his fist in the air.

"New Orleans? Ain't that a bit far dude?" Not like it surprised me, last year we drove into Atlanta, because Collin thought a couple of 16 year olds would be able to gamble. Yeah that went over well.

"Come on bro, it's only 3 hours away. Mardi Gras is waiting for us!" And with that we were off, not like it mattered if I really wanted to go or not Collin did what he wanted and I was usually just along for the ride.

"What did your dad do now?" I questioned, because, well, everytime Collin is willing to run away for a while, his dad has something to do with it. Not like mine is any better, my dad is such a hard-ass and my mom doesn't care, she never has. They both just care about the money my grandfather left me when he died. But I don't get any of it until I turn 18. But thats just three months away, once I get it, I'm leaving for good and never coming back.

"Does it really matter what he did? Hell if I care I don't plan on looking back this time." He said confidently.

"Uh huh, you do that, man." He always claimed he wasn't going back. But a few days later he would cool off and then he was ready to head home. After a few minutes I got tired of the silence. "So, New Orleans, huh?"

"Yup. You ready for the party of a life time?" I was amused at how exited Collin could get, I knew his exitement wasn't at the fact we were going to party, it was knowing that when he got back his dad would be happy to see him because he'd been worried from the moment his son left. As for me, my dad won't even know I'm gone, I haven't seen him in at least a week 'cause I've been ignoring him.

"Sure dude, lets party." I smiled

Three hours later we were driving into the city and people were on the streets partying already and it was only 6 am.

"So know of any good hotels to stay at for a couple of days?" Collin smiled and flashed his dad's credit card.

"Ha, dude, you're just plain evil to your ol' man. Cut him some slack?"

"Yeah right, this is what we do. He pisses me off, I spend a buncha his money, not like he can't afford it, dude's rich. Hey how bout that place?" He interupted himself, and pointed to a decent looking hotel that wasn't terribly busy compared to the others they had seen. We got ourselves a room up on the fifth floor. And after Collin was done riding the elevator like a six year old we headed to our room. Collin had a bag packed with a few things that he threw on his bed. And then turned around to face me. "Let's get you some new clothes." he chuckled grabbing his wallet and heading out the door. We rode the elevator down and got in the car.

"Dude, we ain't gonna' be gone that long are we? What's wrong with what I got?" I said, gesturing at myself.

"Those rags weren't bought with this!" He said seriously, holding up the credit card. "Plus I want a new jacket. Gotta look nice for the ladies tonight!"
