I had less than two months left of 8th grade, prom was coming up and my life had never been better. In just a few months I would start highschool with my bestfriends and then graduate together, it was something we had planned ever since we met. Never once did it cross my mind that my mom would ruin it all for me..

After what seemed like forever, my alarm finally rang. It didn't wake me up, since I had been up all night, but instead just reminded me that today was my first day at my new school. How exciting! From my bed I could see my uniform laid out on my chair: a mini skirt like the one I wore in elementary and a white polo. This uniform wasn't so bad compared to the winter one, but I was sure I would have convinced my mom to go back home before I was obligated to wear it.

Miami was home for me.

I was born here in Peru but my whole family moved to the United States when I was just a baby and the worst thing that could have ever happened to me was move back now just when I was getting into the good stuff. I blamed it all on my mom ever since I found out we were moving, since the only reason we left was because she got a beter job offer here. Me and my friends had always wanted to leave Miami but now that it actually happened to me, there is nothing I wouldn't do to go back.

I was so mad, nervous and sad at the same time that I didn't even touch my breakfast. I just grabbed an apple and headed to the car, where my mom was already waiting for me.

- You look just like me when I was your age and went to school here.

I just gave her a weak smile and put on my earphones. I had never been the new girl, everyone at my old school knew me and I didn't know what to expect. After 15 minutes we arrived at the door and after a speech on how I'm going to do great and everyone is going to love me from my mom, I hopped out the car and went inside.

I looked around for a teacher or someone who could help me and finally spotted one in between all the little kids. The worst thing about this school was that it was K-12 and there where only like 500 students. Classes had started just a week ago so I guessed there would be other new kids and it wasn't just me.

- Excuse me, I'm new here and I don't really know where to go.

- Welcome! Right this way, i'll take you.

We went right through a giant gate into a field that was about the size of my backyard, where all the students were lined up according to their grade.

- What grade are you in?

- 2nd year of highschool

The worst part was they were making me re-do 8th grade because I hadn't finished it back at home.

After walking throught a bunch of kids, we arrived at a line made up of what looked like 12 year olds.

- This is your class, 2nd year of highschool.

You have got to be kidding me..

- Thank you.

She explained to me how every other monday the whole school lines up here to sing the national anthem and catch up on some of the school's news and events. I smiled at her and got into the back of the line. I was looking forward but I could feel everyone staring at me and hear their whispers: who is she? is she new? look at that girl, she's new! There's a new girl in 2nd year!

Dude, have you guys never seen a new girl?..

To distract myself from everything going on around me I decided to check out every class, just to see who I would be spending the next nine months of my life with. I just went through the highschool kids since they were the only ones I was going to be with. I started by 1st year, then my class, and then 3rd... thats when I saw him.

Woah that guy is cute as fuck!

He was just the right height with black hair and something about him was driving me crazy. I was admiring from a far when he turned around and looked at me. I froze for a second but then played it cool and turned around life if I hadn't been looking at him at all. He kept turning back to where I was standing so the last time he did, I looked straight at him and we locked eyes for a few seconds. He quickly broke eye contact and turned around, and from the back where I was staning I could see he was smiling while he stared at the floor.

I was standing there smiling and giggling to myself like a total idiot when I felt someone looking at me again but this time it wasn't him, it was coming from the senior class. A girl from the front of the line was giving me the bitchiest face and kept on looking at him and then at me, back and forth. She had to be his girlfriend or have a crush on him because it was so obvious just by looking at the face she was giving me that she felt something for him. I was laughing so hard on the inside but I just shot her my best smile and after rolling her eyes at me, she crossed her arms and turned around to face forward. It was my first day and I was already getting into problems unintentionally but I didn't care because I couldn't stop thinking about this guy. I didn't know how, but I had to get to know him or atleast his name.. I had to start somewhere.
