Miette took a deep breath before she played a song.
One that she had longed for and treasured in the past became a core of her hatred.
Serena watched, ears open, as the girl performed her act on stage.
It has started.

Miette woke up one day with a yawn. She rubbed her eyes before forcing herself to get up from bed and begin her morning routine.
Once she had headed downstairs, she passed by the trophy that she had won two weeks ago. Her eyes caught on to the written description of the prized award.
"Best Musician..." She stopped reading it, knowing how untrue it felt to her. It may feel true to others, but to her, it didn't. Not when she knows that there are others whom she hasn't competed against yet. Especially when she was not competing against the one and only Serena Yvonne. She can't accept the award just like that.
No, this award was her first test.
But the real one will be the next.
She will make sure that it happens no matter what.
Miette nodded to herself, with a faint smile curving her lips, before she continued to head downstairs.
She could smell the delicious aroma of her mother's cooking and hear the morning news on the television.
The girl greeted her parents before she dug into the breakfast they had prepared for her.
"It was reported that the well-known musical prodigy has announced her retirement from the stage just now." Her ears caught the words of the newscaster on the television in their living room, and she immediately froze.
"Musical prodigy...?" she found herself speaking out loud. Miette wanted to ask who, but even in her heart, she had a good idea who it might be.
"The musical prodigy, Serena Yvonne, will stop all recitals and performances due to personal reasons." The blue-haired dropped her fork, in shock. "She refused to go into further details, but did state that she plans on not returning at all. Her absence from the music industry started around two weeks ago. Now off to the weather."
"Two weeks ago...?"
That's around the same time when she had her first music competition. The one that she trained and worked hard for. The one she had waited for months for. The one she looked forward to meeting prodigy for so long.
Her motivation to explore the world of music.
Now...
Now, that inspiration is gone. The one who set up this intensifying spark inside of her is gone. Her dreams of being her rival and beating her one day through music are gone.
Everything she looked forward to was immediately shattered into pieces. Pieces that she herself cannot collect and put back together as new again.
Her young brain couldn't process it...
"If she doesn't come back..." She felt her breath hitch as she felt something dark linger in her chest for the first time.
Then that's a shame. Why would such a talent go to waste?
Before she could think further, she felt a hand on her shoulder, meeting up to her mom's concerned smile.
Immediately, that dark feeling vanished.
