when jimin finally decided to go back into the hospital, he was immediately informed about taehyung's miracle, as they put it. jimin nodded reassuringly to himself, glad that at least yoongi had kept his word. he wouldnt be stuck in the underworld for eternity for nothing.
when years had passed and jimins distant memory of a shockingly blonde haired whirlwind of a boy started to fade, he began to live a relatively normal life. he continued to fulfill his rightful duties as an angel, while still making plenty of time to come and spend time with taehyung and his long term boyfriend, jungkook. jimin had some short flings, and a couple dates here and there, nothing major. he liked it that way, though, angels werent really allowed to fall in love.
taehyung went on to become a well known writer at a stable publishing firm, and jungkook worked around the same area, working as a part time dance teacher for middle school and high school students. jimin never really got any jobs in the mortal world, he was pretty satisfied with his tasks he had to do elsewhere, that allowed him to use his beloved wings in their full glory.
now, jimin had some time off from his usual tasks due to an increase in new angels over the last few months and taehyung and jungkook had invited him on a short vacation that they were taking on their time off of work. so, naturally jimin agreed. him and taehyung were currently sat on the dock of a huge open lake, jungkook out shopping somewhere around town for the time being. "thank you." taehyung suddenly broke the comfortable silence that had fallen between the two of them.
"huh? what do you mean, tae?" jimin turned to look at taehyung, confusion evident on his features. taehyung had nothing to thank him for. "thank you for being my best friend. without you, i dont know where i would be. before you, i was awkward and shy." taehyung chuckled lightly, "but you made my life so colorful." he smiled warmly at him jimin. jimins lips lifted immediately to reveal his own blindingly bright smile, "i could say the exact same thing. thank you for being my best friend for life, taehyung."
they then embraced each other in a warm, loving hug, and when they parted, both of them felt completely content with the world. so, that night, when jimin was suddenly hit by an oncoming car and was terminally injured, he died happily. because he knew that taehyung was happy where he was now, and thats all hes ever really wanted. taehyung was his person, forever. and all he could ask for is that he lives a happy and full life, with or without him.
knowing that his time was running out in that small, white hospital bed, jimin shifted so his scrunched up wings were more slightly more comfortable, and reached out weakly to taehyungs sniffling figure. "tae." jimin weakly whispered, voice broken. he struggled to keep his eyes open as he beckoned taehyung towards him.
taehyung whipped his head in the direction of jimin and rushed over to him on the spot, "yeah, jiminie? you're going to be alright, you understand? dont worry, everythings going to be okay." taehyung shakily whispered to him, desperately clinging to his clammy hand. it sounded like taehyung was trying to reassure himself more than anybody. "i love you, tae. best friends forever, right?" jimin said, voice starting to fade. his time was running dangerously thin.
tears streamed down taehyungs tan face as he nodded quickly, "of course, forever, jiminie. i love you so, so much." taehyung sobbed, still clutching to jimins cold hand. and the last thing jimin remembers before his vision was consumed by darkness, was a sobbing taehyung being held comfortingly by an equally distressed looking jungkook. and he just lazily smiled to himself because taehyung had jungkook. and he knew he would be alright.
then he was gone.
when he eventually opened his eyes again, the first thing he saw was the familiar endless darkness. jimin knew with this place, it was where he had first met him. he reached back to check for his wings, sighing in relief when he found them in their rightful place in between his shoulder blades. "hello, again." a voice suddenly boomed through the empty darkness and in less than a second, he appeared in front of jimin, just as surprisingly as the last time.
"hi, uh- satan?" jimin coughed awkwardly, not knowing exactly what to address him as. "oh you can call me yoongi." yoongi smiled wickedly at him, his eyes shimmery and dark, just as jimin remembered them. "so, as you can see, you're still the same age as when you made the deal with me. thats how this works, apparently." yoongi gestured to jimin vaguely, nodding. jimin looked down to his clothes and saw that he was wearing the exact thing as he had been that day. "what about you? do you- uh- age?" jimin wondered out loud, his eyebrow arching.
yoongis face saddened slightly, "n- no, i dont. i cant, actually. im stuck like this, forever probably. in the body of 21 year old me. kind of terrible if you ask me." he sighed. "oh." jimin said, not really knowing what else to say in response.and thats how it remained for the rest of their days, jimin and yoongi together. they would spend their free time scaring the living day lights out of mortals and jimin making fun of yoongi for the stereotype that he was a little red guy with horns and a tail, yoongi promptly threatening to kill him in return when he did so. they enjoyed each others company much more than they ever thought they would have.
and even though they never really put an actual label on it, both of them knew that they werent just companions, or friends for that matter. all they knew was that there was no other person they would rather spend eternity with.
