Foxdale Prep is one of the most exclusive boarding schools in the world. Built on an island the the Florida Keys, the school is high tech and modern, catering to the children of the insanely rich and important.

Sure that's not what the brochure said exactly, but when you say a grand total of twenty-eight words a week on average, you learn to read between the lines.

"The kids at this have important connections- Hell they are connections. That being said you cannot do anything to embarrass your father and I, make friends with whoever has the power. And remember just because they talk big doesn't mean they are; fact check." With that Mother turned and left, leaving me with our butler and head of staff, Robert. The second Mother was gone Robert turned to me wish a smile.

"It will be okay, little miss. This isn't the end of the world. I packed most of your book collection, not including the first editions or any that you didn't rave about for at least two weeks," Robert paused then and heaved a sigh, "Little miss, I know you aren't the most. . . outgoing, but you should try to make friends. You'll be away from home and away from Helga, and the rest of us. You need someone to interact with. Of course we'll be here anytime you want to phone us, but just think about," I could tell Robert was really worried so I gave him a half smile and nodded. That small gesture made him tear up and pull me into a hug.

"Goodbye Little miss."

"Goodbye Robert," I replied just above a whisper as I pulled away and headed towards the boat that would bring me to the island.

I hesitated just before I went up the steps, I glanced back at Robert and waved.

He dabbed his eyes one last time with his handkerchief and gave me his biggest smile.

That was the last I saw of my old life. The last I saw of comfort and safety and familiarity.

The end of one chapter of my life and the beginning of another.
