Recap
"Is that really you, Sophie?"
**********************
My mind began to process the situation that began to unfold before my eyes. There, in front of me, was my loving family I had left behind in my sorrow of rejection. My limbs refused to move, for I was frozen with shock. Almost a year had passed since I had seen these faces. My Mom was the first to say something.
"Sophie!" My Mom ran over and held me in a tight embrace, and began stroking my hair frantically. I stuffed my face into my mom's shoulder and began to feel the warm tears soak into her shirt. My Mom began to sob and shake making me feel all the more worse for the way I had left so abruptly. I was so caught up in the moment I didn't realize the spectacle happening next to me. I only minded to look around from my sob fest when I heard a single word escape from two familiar mouths,
"Mate."
Everyone was already shocked from the sudden and brief reunion between my mother and I, but things took a whole different turn. I looked behind me towards my best friend Angel, eyes full of emotion. She focused on only one thing, as if in a trance. I followed her gaze and stepped back in surprise. My brother Adam, with now dark eyes, was looking hungrily at Angel. The passion they had as they stared at each other was awe worthy.
They stared at each other for about three minutes before I internally groaned. The moment was sweet and all, but the suspense was killing me. I nudged Angel in the behind with my foot. Luckily, neither noticed. The pair walked towards each other and paused when they were just about to touch, as if taking in each other's presence. Suddenly, Angel leaped into Adam's arms surprising not only us the audience, but Adam as well. However, that surprise was quickly exchanged for admiration and adoration.
Before I knew it, I was clapping. Kind of like when the airplane lands, everyone just oddly begins to clap. No one joined me, but I just shrugged it off. Angel and Adam stepped back from their sweet moment, still holding hands, and began to blush. Then I was tackled into a bear hug.
"You rotten little stinker! Do you know how much pain we've been through thinking you were dead?!" My eldest brother held me tight, suffocating me.
"Ehh....James! Can't......BREATHE!" I managed to hurriedly breathe out.
James pulled me back at arms length and glared down at me. I could see James was on the verge of tears, and another pang of guilt shot through me.
"You've gotten so much thinner. Where did my cute little sister go?" James questioned with a hint of sadness.
"Only my outer appearance has changed James. I'm still you're same old little stinker," I replied with a smile and stuffed my face into his hard chest.
I noticed that James had become more muscular then the last time I saw him, but you could tell he had many sleepless nights. All of my family looked tired and melancholy. I was the reason for there troubles. I felt a sense of responsibility and got down on my knees.
"I'm so sorry, for everything. I should have told you something or at least contacted you while I was gone. I just needed some time...I'm sure you know the causes. I understand if you can't forgive me-," I was caught off by the embrace of my entire family.
I immediately understood their feelings. They had already forgiven me.
