What Feelings?

I never pictured Jordan as much more than a friend. I started working with the creatures a couple months ago and Jordan had always been my best friend. I had always been his. We could talk to each other. The thought of Jordan meaning something more to me wasn't insane but almost flustered me in a way. The thought would have never come to play if it weren't for Aleks. Last night was a normal night until he spoke. We all went out after working all day at the office.
"Jordan's been looking at you a lot tonight," Aleks said to me when Jordan left to get us all drinks at the noisy club.
I twiddled my thumbs trying not to make something more of his comment than it actually was, "It's polite to look at someone when you talk to them so he's just being polite."
Aleks chuckled, "Please (Y/N). It's just a matter of time."
I crinkled my eyebrows and looked up at him, "A matter of time until what?"
"Don't play innocent. It's just a matter of time until he pounces on you. Any guy who looks at you like he does is in need of you," I could feel my face get hot as Jordan approached the booth and slid in next to me. Aleks smirked at me before turning to talk to James.
Jordan smiled at me and touched my cheek making me flush even more, "Your cheeks are burning kitten."
I hid my face embarrassed, "What did you call me?"
"Kitten," he stated shyly, "because kittens are cool and you're cool. I don't know, it was dumb."
I couldn't help but giggle which made him giggle too. Aleks butted into our conversation, "(Y/N) was just telling me about how much she hates crowded places and I thought maybe you could give her a ride home. You know I wouldn't want to leave James here because of his natural instinct to throw a fit when I'm not around," I gave Aleks a look that could kill in that moment and he just smiled back.
Jordan suddenly grabbed my hand, guiding me to exit the booth with him, "No problem. I don't actually like crowds much myself." Aleks waved at us as we left, Jordan not releasing the string grip on my hand. We emerged into the cold air as Jordan immediately put his jacket around my shoulders. It was much too large for me but was warm and smelled wonderful. Jordan grabbed my hand again as we walked down the empty sidewalks. I caught myself staring at him much too often and tried to stay looking down at my feet. The walk was quiet and awkward until we approached an ally way.
"Can I talk to you in private?" Jordan motioned towards the ally even though the streets were completely empty. I willingly nodded as he lead me through. He stopped in the middle and leaned against the brick building, "I'm sorry I just feel like I need to make you aware to the fact that you're really important to me. I guess there's this part of me that feels like I've been trying to make that more apparent and with that you've been kind of backing up. (Y/N) I care about you a lot."
I stared at him without saying a word. In the moment my mind ran wild, I would get lost in thought over parts of him. His eyes caught me and left me speechless overall. I broke my haze to walk over and lean against the wall next to him. He looked nervous and worried but in that moment he took confidence in his actions. He grabbed my arm and hovered over my body as close as possible. His lips inches from mine, breathing heavily. He shut his eyes tightly as he sighed. I stood frozen letting my body control itself. He opened his eyes for a second to tuck a strand of hair behind my ear before gently kissing my cheek. He wrapped his arms around me tightly and hugged me for what felt like forever. His warm hand grasped mine again as he lead me home.
I don't know what I expected to happen be it that Jordan was only just my best friend. However, in that moment Jordan felt like so much more. Even if I can't picture him as something more I know that the feeling is there. I wanted him to kiss me, now I know that much. Something about how gentle he was kissing my cheek made the moment even better. When I arrived at my apartment Jordan gave me one last hug before I went upstairs. After closing the door and going inside Aleks sent me a text reading: 'How was your walk? Do you have feelings for your cat in shining armor yet?'
I simply replied with...
'What feelings?'
