As I came to my senses my surroundings became much more clear. The uncomfortable material of the hospital gown agitating my skin, the cold hospital room and rings of the hospital phone.I never, ever liked hospitals; when you were in a room you could always hear the nurses laughing with doctors, telling bad jokes or how they will be back after break. No one should be hearing that at the same time they could be getting heart breaking news.
"Oh joy! You're up, your results on all your tests were peachy and you aren't pregnant!" she laughed slightly at her own joke. "Do you need anything, Hun?" She questioned, cocking her head to the side causing her ponytail to began swinging like a pendulum.
When I started to speak my voice croaked immediately, so I picked up the water on the small side draw and gulped it down. The smooth, tasteless liquid quenching my thirst. "I, I want to see him."
"See who sir?"
"My ex, the one who stabbed me."

I always ran away from my responsibilities, this time I had to face him head on before I could officially get closure. Or I would always look behind my back in the grocery store, or get the eerie feeling of someone watching me from afar. This isn't about him anymore, it's about me finding myself again.
When I told the nurse, Angie, she went to bring in the cop that saved me, she took me to the restroom, telling me to try and pee, even if I didn't have too, my mom would tell me that before we took long drives. I've missed my mom, I would have to talk to her after this was over with.
Pulling down the gown I began to walk toward the sink to wash my hands, staring at myself in the sterile glass. My brown hair hung low on my forehead, the bags under my eyes were big enough to store luggage. My skin was almost as white as the large bandage taped on my shoulder. I splashed my tired face with water, drying it, then slowly walking back into the freezing room.
"Will." A deep voice spoke, and I froze in my tracks, not from the room I entered but from the silver eyes I looked into. My palms began to sweat and my stomach fluttered softly. You're in love numb nuts. Now stop staring and say hi.
"Hi." I replied nervously. The police officer smiled lightly, extended his hand for a polite handshake. Oh no, my hands all sweaty and wet, eww he will never speak to me again.
I did what I could think of, I closed my hand into a fist and began to give him a fist bump, "Put 'er thereeee!" Really? and the fistbump isn't embarrassing, then you said put er there, I swear sometimes you are a moron.
Well you're my brain so technically this is your fault.
His silver eyes glistening with humor, he excepted the bump. "Now that greetings are settled, Angie here told me you wanted to see the suspect?" He used his work voice then.
"Yes, is that alright?" I asked.
"Of course, you can see him after you've been discharged from the hospital. I will drive you in my squad car."
Angie, gave me prescriptions and helped me into clothes the policeman provided me with, mine was all torn. It was a light gray sweater, with faded jeans, they smelled like fabric softener and mints.
"Thank you, Angie, You're a great nurse." I complimented genuinely.
"Don't worry about it sweets, just doing my job, y'all be safe and don't hit too much! If ya catch my drift." She winked and went back into the building.
"That Angie is something else," Officer Yale laughed, helping me into the car. I smiled and sat back into the comfort of the seat, the chairs were warm and so, so soft, before I knew it, I was falling asleep.

"Will, Will." I was being shook gently, Once I opened my eyes, for the second time today, I saw the same beautiful eyes and I smiled lazily, "Such pretty eyes Officer." Realizing what I said I sat up fully and carefully got out the car, he was grinning like he just won an award. "So, My eyes are pretty huh."
"Shuddup." I grumbled, walking towards the police station.
"He is in holding room number one, Will, he will find satisfaction in you coming to see him so say what you need to and get out. Okay?"
"Okay. Thank you, for saving me at the house Officer Yale."
"I would save you anytime Will." It was my turn to grin, "Anytime huh?"
"Shuddup."

I was calm,...surprisingly, Kel always had a hold on me that I couldn't explain, but as I was sitting in front of him, I wasn't intimidated anymore."Came out your way for little ole me?" His mouth twisted in a sadistic smirk as he clasped his hands in front of him.
"No, I came all this way for me. You don't scare me anymore, you're going to be locked up for a long time, away from me and my family. And that fear you claim you could "smell",...where is it now? It's over, and you're done for, one more thing, don't leave your mouth open while you sleep...or do, I don't care. Goodbye Kel." I got up and left, that was the last time I saw him.

*1 year later*
"Mom, you know dad and Phil don't like to be kept waiting." I was using this excuse to lure my mom home for her surprise birthday, but as usual, she is being a shopaholic. Phil is going to get it, he was suppose to come get us from the store saying it was an emergency if my mom took too long. I snuck off to call him.
"Phil Yale!! I am going to personally castrate you when I get to the house. You were suppose to pick us up!"
"Sorry babe, I got caught up with you dad," he laughed, "we were playing pool, then he lost and wanted a rema-" I growled. He chuckled, "Captain Yale is on his way to save you!"
