The water is cold. The smell of fish and piss fill the air. It's a disgusting smell. Another wave splashes over my feet. The water only goes up to my ankles. My short hair was pulled up out of my face but a few too short to reach the back of my head were in front of my face. The wind moving them all over the place.
My little sister runs up. Her tiny cold hand grabs mine. Her small teeth chattering was ruining the silence of the waves crashing against the shore. The water was up to her knees. Her pants were soaked.
"Sissy. Are you going to get rid of the monsters?"
I looked at the little girl. Her long brown hair was pulled back into a braid. Her small dark red lips shaking from the cold air. Her big gray eyes looking deep into mine for an answer.
"Monsters can be little specks of insanity in our brains, we are all monsters darling and we are insane. " I quietly spoke. The little girl only nodded and pretended to understand what I said. I took in a deep breath of the ocean air. My little sister doing the same. I picked her small body up and carried her back to the car. I made her sit in the back as I drove to what we call home for now.Violet had fallen asleep before we made it to the house. I carried her inside the small house. It was old and falling apart but it was all I could afford. It had two rooms so it was fine with us. I laid her small body in the bed. She whined a bit but soon relaxed. I kissed the small girls forehead. I turned off the light and shut the door. I made my way to my room. I stripped from my clothes jumping into the warm shower. The water hitting my skin stung. I closed my eyes letting my thoughts take over.
After turning the water off and putting on a big shirt I jumped into bed. Not even a minute later I was out."Sissy? I'm scarred." Her small cry woke me. Pulled her into my bed still half asleep. She snuggles into my body. Falling back to sleep in a matter of seconds. It took me a while to fall asleep with Violet tossing and turning. Whining about mother. Once she finally calmed I had got comfortable enough to fall back into sleep.
