Today was cleaning day at the foster home and everyone were supposed to help.
Baelfire was assigned to swab the floor while Emma had work to do in the garden.
However Baelfire was soon finished and settled on talking to Emma through the window in the living room.
Unfortunately she wasn't as fond of the idea that he would just sit around, criticising her work.
"You know, you could come out here and help me instead" She said as she looked up at him trough the open window.
He leaned out a little further, pretending to consider the offer before telling her "thanks, but no thanks" with a cocky smirk.
That smirk was though quickly wiped of his face as Emma grabbed a handful of dirt, aiming for his face.
"Emma" Baelfire groaned as the dirt shattered over the floor "I've just finished this room"
"Hey, it's your own fault" Emma retorted, sticking out her tongue at him.
"You better watch your back Swan, I'll be back for you" He then told her before disappearing from the window, preparing his revenge.
She just smiled at this before she continued on with her work.
A few minutes later had he returned with the bucket of dirty water he had used while cleaning the floors and and a bottle with soap.
He sneaked up to the window and sat down on the windowsill. After carefully strewing the lid of the bottle he he used a straw to blow bubbles. The colourful soap bubbles floated around in the cold autumn air and soon caught Emma's attention.
While she was occupied by looking at the pretty bubbles, Baelfire grabbed his bucket and poured at least half it's content down in the flower bed which if it hadn't been muddy before certainly was now. Especially for anyone who already sat with knees and hands in the dirt.
"Baelfire" She scowled, sending him a dirty look. He grinned at her and couldn't help but laugh at how she looked, all covered in dirt and mud.
"You look lovely today Emma, I like this, erhm, unclean look you have going on" He said in between laughs.
Emma however wasn't amused, so ones more she grabbed a handful of dirt, now turned into mud, and formed it into a small ball before she once more aimed for his face.
This time she didn't miss her target.
Baelfire abruptly stopped laughing and tried his best to wipe his face.
"Emma?" He exclaimed accusingly and now it was her time to laugh. That stopped pretty quickly too as Baelfire grabbed the bucket once more and emptied the remaining content over her head.
Emma grabbed another handful of mud and was about to throw it when they got interrupted by a stern voice.
"Emma, Baelfire, what on earth are you doing?" The head administration barked at them. Both of them just stared at her, ashamed and too afraid to answer.
"Cleaning?" Emma tried, fidgeting with her hands behind her back.
"Well you're gonna have to start over, and then you'll have kitchen duty for a month" She decided giving them both stern looks.
"Yes Ms. Hhum" Baelfire agreed, without looking her in the eyes.
"But first of all you'll have to go clean up" She continued "you can wash of with the garden hose"
After she left Bae jumped out the window and the two of them went to wash of.
"I'm sorry Emma" Baelfire admitted, giving her a soft smile.
"It's not your fault Bae" Emma told him, poking him playfully in the ribs with her elbow.
"Friends?" Baelfire asked, offering her a hug.
"Best of" Emma agreed before stepping into his embrace. It was a very wet and sticky hug, but I'm positive both of them enjoyed it.
