BEYONCÉ'S P.O.V

Standing alone in the kitchen, I suddenly heard a ruckus coming from the room Jay and the others were in. Naturally, I decided to go and see what was happening.

After eavesdropping for a few moments, I was able to discover that someone owed one of the men money, but wasn't paying up. Collectively, the group agreed on going to find the person and effectively scaring them, in hope that the money would be handed over. Once the discussion was over, lots of shuffling filled the air.

When I peeked round the corner, I saw Jay get up, along with everyone else, and immediately rush to the front door. He was behind the others, so I had the perfect opportunity to intercept before he could leave.

I hurried over to him and grabbed ahold of his right arm, clinging onto his bicep. Instinctively, he turned his upper body round to get a look at what was going on. Once he saw me, a confused expression developed on his face.

"This isn't your battle to fight, Jay. Don't be stupid and go along with them." I said.

"I ain't gonna get involved, I'm just there to show we mean business. None of us have weapons with us, nothing's gonna kick off." he explained. Before I had the chance to argue back, one of his friends came running into the house again.

"Jay, hurry up! We gon' miss him!" he shouted, leaving just as swiftly as he arrived. I stared at Jay intently in order to show my concern.

"Seriously, don't stress over this. I'm gonna be just fine." he reassured. I sighed as I let my right hand trace down his arm, my left hand staying stationary, until it met with his own hand. I rested my fingers softly in his palm and used my thumb to rub the back of it.

"Be careful." I pleaded.

I'm not sure why I decided to be so forward, but I wanted him to know I was serious. It was important that he knew I didn't approve of what he was doing because it would hopefully encourage him to stop. I'm not saying that I have a big enough effect on him to make him rethink his actions, but just proving I didn't agree with what he was doing might persuade him to rethink.

He took a moment to react, probably because he was taken aback by my sudden gesture, but soon gave me a gentle squeeze, confirming he was going to follow my wishes. Without saying another word, he hesitantly slipped his hand out of mine and turned to leave. Just as he stepped out of the door, he came to an abrupt halt and his head faced sideways.

"You be careful too." he said.

"I'm only going to work?" I replied with a confused tone.

"I know. Just watch yourself." he reiterated.

Leaving my mind muddled, he disappeared outside. I had a quick look at the clock and thought it would be best for me to head off to work, if I wanted to make it on time. Quickly grabbing my phone and keys, I left home. By the time I made it to the end of the driveway, Jay and co. were nowhere to be seen.

I began to walk in the direction of work, casually making my way downtown, walking fast, faces pass and I'm work-bound.

"Yoncé!" I suddenly heard someone shout. Not having to turn around to see who it was, I stood still and waited for him to catch up.
