Third-Person's POV
Crystal thought long and hard about what her Pharaoh had said. She thought about it for two days. But nothing came to mind. It was just as she was giving up, that she opened her eyes wide in shock and gasped.
Ahkmenrah's POV
I sighed. It had been two days, and Crystal still hadn't been able to remember. At this point, I was about ready to give up and live the rest of my eternity in sorrow and regret, knowing I could never again have her. I was standing on the balcony of the room I had first appeared in, and I looked out towards the horizon.
The sun was slowly sinking in the sky, and I knew once it disappeared for the night, it would be too late. "Son."
I turned around to see my father standing in the doorway of the room. His face was blank, emotionless. Just as I remembered it to be when he was alive. I shook my head. "It's too late, Father. She doesn't remember," Turning away, I looked back at the sun. In no less than thirty seconds, the sun would disappear below the horizon, and I would be forced to watch as Crystal went about her life, not knowing how much I love her.
"Ahkmenrah!" A girl's voice yelled out.
I looked around, but saw no one. I must be imagining things... I thought sullenly.
"Ahkmenrah!" The voice was louder this time, and it sounded closer than before. Turning, I saw Crystal run into the room. "I..."
But I didn't hear the last part of what she said. Crystal was bent over, trying to catch her breath. "What?" I asked her, frowning.
"I remember!" she said again, just before a golden light surrounded me, and everything else faded to black.
I gasped for breath as I opened my eyes. Looking around me, I saw that I was in my tomb, but lying on the floor now. Jumping up, I ran out of the room and down the hallway to the lobby. Larry was there, by the desk, talking to Teddy and Sacajawea. But Crystal was nowhere to be found.
"Larry!" I called out to him.
He turned around and frowned when he saw me. "Ahkmenrah, what's wrong?"
"Where's Crystal?" I blurted out.
Larry frowned. "She just left with Nicky."
"Where are they going?" I was nearly shouting, but at that moment, I couldn't care less. Right now, I needed to know if Crystal remembered. Remembered what happened, if she remembered me.
"They're heading home. Why?"
But I didn't answer him. I turned and ran for the doors, pushing them open as I exited the building. The moon was high in the sky, but steadily lowering toward the horizon. I knew I didn't have much time. It was now or never.
Crystal's POV
The tears had stopped flowing a while ago. But I couldn't stop the memories from coming. As much as I wanted to, it just wasn't possible. Nicky walked beside me, his arm wrapped around my waist, holding me close.
My eyes roamed the streets, looking for Kahmunrah. After what happened tonight, part of me wished that he would show up and take me away. While the other part of me was screaming in fear, desperately wanting to be back at the apartment where I knew I'd be safe.
I wrapped my arms tighter around myself, shivering from the cold, and hoping to keep what little warmth I had left in me inside my body. Nicky glanced at me and began rubbing my arm. He leaned over and kissed the side of my head, but not saying anything. He knew how upset I was over all that had happened.
