A soft tapping.

You walk forward.

The tapping is louder.

You run forward.

The tapping is before your eyes.

You finally come across a large metal door of a gymnasium, and all you can hear is the rhythem of hard leather on solid wood. With hesitant hands, you push forward, trying to embrace the unique beating noise. The door opens and you are greeted by a large wooden stage decorated with red leather curtains. On that illuminated stage is a single woman.

She's crazy, You think, dancing without a tune. But you can't help but watch.

It's a strange performance, you observe...she's dancing a solo duet. You didn't need to be a professional to see how her hand reaches out to the side as though waiting for a partner to finish the job. It looks incomplete, and your feet begin to inch towards the stage until you are directly in front of the silent lady. She doesn't notice you though, her eyes are closed, and the lights are off except for the 3 stage lights.

Without another word, you sit down and stare. It's quite rude, and maybe this is personal, but this performance is so interesting that you couldn't help but sit down to watch where this ends. All of a sudden, the loud, catchy tapping comes to a stop to your disappointment. The woman opens her eyes, and to your shock, she stares directly at you with a mysterious smile, her hand extended in an invitation.

You try to refuse, of course, you don't know how to tap dance, but with a heavy heart, you climb on stage. Disturbed, confused, embarrassed, you look at her for direction. She begins to move her feet in a basic pattern.

Tap-tappity-tap.

She grins at you expectantly. Not knowing what to do, you mimic her, and soon a clumsy, awkward duet ensues. She giggles at the strange footwork and soon she begins to dance around you, slowly but surely teaching you the steps along the way.

Tappity- tap- tappity- tap- tap.

You smile and just lose yourself in the non existent music. Tap-dancing away you laugh and twirl and stomp with this weird stranger. But soon, you extend your hand to the side so she can complete you, but you grasp for air. You can now only hear your own feet hitting the floor. You don't stop however to wonder this strange phenomenon, and continue this solo duet, putting faith that your unexpected partner will return.

The door squeaks open and footsteps fill the room, someone new has entered but you don't stop to acknowledge. After dancing a bit, you know that woman won't come back and you stop to take a deep breath. Opening your eyes, you stare directly at the newcomer.

Smiling at their surprised face, you extend your hand in invitation. Wanna dance?
